Enjoying every minute

Disappointing to lose but I don't think we deserved that result tonight.

The fight this team shows is better than we have had for many a year and I am enjoying watching every minute.

For those having a pop because a player doesn't play like an elite international every game, give your heads a wobble 😁

We have come a long way baby...

We deserved to lose by more than one tonight. I don't see many people having a go at the players, they're clearly all trying their best.

You're right that we've come a long way but that second half was miserable. If we fall behind on Saturday, we need to at least put QPR under some pressure.

We didnt have one shot on goal, didnt think much of our forward line but that's all we've got just now. Stoke deserved to win.

I reckon a draw would have been about right for tonight. Stoke were cynical in everything they did. We went to sleep on one free-kick and got punished but even then it was a fluke from a player who should have been off. I thought Carey should have been deeper but I guess Critch wanted him up top with Yates. He didn't really influence the game as much as I thought he would....

Hate holier than thou OPs like this. What a load of pompous "I know best" rubbish.

Of course it’s disappointing to lose but sometimes you have to man up and say they deserved it far more than us.

Stoke played well 2nd half but Fletcher should have been off for that blatant kick... interesting how game would have played out if that had happened. Surprised sub wasn't carey for madine, think Yates and madine sat tho

But roll on qpr.. another tough game

Yes we did. Nothing wrong with saying so either. We were bullied out of the game completely in the 2nd half.
I’d have said we were bullied in the first half and just not allowed to play in the second.

But I’d have been very happy with a point and can’t disagree too much with the result.

Not happy mind.

First half was pretty even, though they were the dirtiest team I've seen so far. Yep Bowler should've been on for the start of the second half. They pushed their fullbacks up and it blocked our routes for playing out from the back - the distribution fell apart then.

In fairness to Stoke, we never looked like scoring in the second half, they definitely wanted it more.

One moan - Garbutt, sorry but gets the ball, runs to halfway, stops, passes it backwards. Every, effin time. Needs to be better. If we can't cope when Keogh goes off injured, we need better cover for him in the centre so Husband can stay on the left.

Onwards to QPR.

We do struggle against a physical (brutal) team and when the opposition plays our pressing game, we revert to playing the ball backwards.
That is because we need a creative midfielder who plays forwards and can see a killer pass.
QPR will be a different challenge, as they play quick, clever football.
We've lost this game to a team of cavemen, but let's move on & not feel too down - unlike Rovers fans 😖 .

I feel like I watched a different game to everyone else. Stoke were very well organised and defended well but I didn’t feel like they offered much going forward. Of the chances we had the better ones but they shut us out in the second half.

Wasn’t like Sheffield who I felt were well and truly on top on Saturday. I feel like this game just balances out that one. Maybe I need to watch it again!

A few thoughts
  • Fletcher shouldn't have been on the pitch, weak refereeing in my opinion
  • That said, we failed miserably to defend a set piece. Don't know if Keogh would have made a difference, but I think we'd have been a little more organised.
  • We were poor in the 2nd half, and got we deserved. An average to poor side nicked a win because we didn't run at them enough in the 2nd half. 5 yellows and we didn't put them under any pressure. Poor.
  • Bad day (or half) at the office, but a win and a defeat is better than 2 draws over the last 2 games
  • Stoke fouled our runners on the break and ended up getting away with it, yes they were the better side in the 2nd half, but I'd much rather watch us than watch that every week.
  • Disappointed but not gutted, we're doing well, better than I dared expect 5 games in. UTP.

An Atletico Madrid player gets a red (was going to be just a yellow) for not approaching the ref when asked to do so three times.

Yet Fletcher deliberately kicks out and makes contact with a player and only gets a yellow.

Referees eh? 🤔
Yes, Fletcher should have been off 100%. Referee bottled that. I suspect if our players were more streetwise though and had ran to and surrounded Fletcher with a few shoves thrown in, he would have walked. If it would have been the other way around that is exactly what wold have happened as they were one of the most cynical teams I've seen in a long while...

If you see Fletchers actions straight after in looking like he was caring for Gabriel he looked like he knew a red was more than
Likely coming he was mightily relieved when it was only a yellow.

Ref clearly bottled it.

Fine margins, missed two opportunities in the first half and made to pay.
They were cynical with fouls, but we missed an opportunity to run at them with 4/5 on bookings.
Bowler came on too late and didn’t get the ball to him enough.
Oh well move on to Saturday and let’s not over criticise them.
We also looked a tad jaded. Credit to
Them for not allowing us to play too.

Don't understand why take Yates off for Madine, should have kept Yates on and brought on Madine. Also left it far too late before Bowlers introduction.
Bad day at the office, roll the sleeves up and go again Saturday. UTMP
Yates seemed to be limping when he came on to applaud fans at end

We should have been ahead first half.

2nd half we were poor and only until Bowler on did we do something.

Stoke didn't deserve the points, created nothing, 1 cross and scored.

As not at the races as we were at times we still played some nice passes.

We were not dominated.

I was in the north but their goal seemed fortunate but poor on our part too.

One of them days.

A draw a fair result cause we offered next to nothing and their goal was a stroke of luck coming back off the post to a player that shouldn’t have been on the pitch.

Seriously!!! That was the worst game of football I have seen since the last time I watched fleetwood!! We deserved exactly what we got!! Fuck all!!! Always a possibility but hard to watch!
Seriously

Anyone thinking Stoke earned or deserved three points from that is way off the mark imo and a draw would have been about right.
We were not at our best by any stretch but they never gave less than 100% effort and are still on a learning curve in this league.
It could be said that they showed a bit more Championship nous (ie cynicism) but I know which team I'd rather watch.

My post was directed at the people bashing players on the match thread.

Every player is pulling his weight so far this season. And because people have an off night they are made out to be no good fodder, which for me, no player has performed constantly bad enough to warrant that.

If having a reasonable and rational opinion is considered pompous, I'd hate to think what you'd brand yourself as 😬

Really…

I thought Stoke played better than us and deserved it.

Not blaming anyone - it’s footy - roll on QPR.
They really didn't mate. Not even close. Pretty poor side really watching that.

But that's football and it happens. Games come thick and fast so you have to move on.

It was a 0-0 game that’s for sure. Very poor defending from us - it was clear their only threat was from set plays.
