Entitled

Are we allowed to use phrases that mean the same thing? Or will we get cancelled for that too? 😀

No one is actually entitled to anything, despite what the class system would have us believe. So can posters having a pop at each other, please stop using this latest buzz word. It is becoming the new 'actually,' 'spot on,' and 'super,' which have been the catch phrases of the impressionable.
Its the context it gets used on this site that makes me laugh

Every time I see it written I just think it means that the person who is supposed to be entitled just has more ambition than the person writing the word

Your first sentence is the reason for using it.

Is there really any Pool fans that don’t have ambition for our club? Honestly I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want us back in the Prem and showing our rivals what we are about?

The only debate I can see on this board is that everyone wants success - it’s degrees of acceptance of the owners ability to spend well above our income?

I almost wish I didn’t see things in business and accountancy terms and could just shout “spend more Sadler”!

Thing is I just always think how much would I spend in his position? It’s on record he’s losing large amounts each season (£6m a year was it?). I know he knows that all owners fare the same, but if that’s his comfort level then how can he spend more? Going into the Champ gave us more TV money but much higher wage bills so if we get back up we need to sell players more often to cover the gap.

So the ‘realist’ in me knows he won’t spend more than he is so I don’t bother screaming spend more. His investment should be enough to get us to the Championship but the recruiting team last two years gave us nothing to sell, only Bowler, Yates and Critch from the season before.

The problem is the gap between what we’ve been told and the reality.

We can’t spend like other clubs in the Championship so we, as a smaller club, have to have the academy facilities to deliver better players with sell on value from our own books. So a new training ground is absolutely vital. Fast forward, it appears the east stand redevelopment is being prioritised instead and nothing has progressed beyond CGI and outline planning applications.

We need to invest in the best lowers league players, develop them and sell them on. We raided League Two with our spending power for bright young stars, and also brought in the likes of Jerry. Now we are loaning in and signing expensive veteran players and loaning in young players instead of buying

we have a transfer committee to ensure continuity over the transfer policy and development, yet allow Appleton to run wild with his type of players to suit his type of football and then sack him leaving the next manager with a right old mess and doubling down on clueless hoofball

Sadler starts well with his relations with the fans and projects and fostering togetherness, now all we get is written warnings and rather premature told you so missives.

confusing.

I think there are quite a few mate. You see them on match days where the actual “getting out of the house” is more important to how we play and the result. That’s why they sit there and show no emotion at all and look at you if you dare groan at a misplaced pass or want some attacking play.

I'm sure that all of us on here are ambitious for our club but we all have different expectations.

I just expect everyone involved with the club to be giving 100 percent and hope that as a result the club can progress.

Sadly, for many others on here, more will never be enough and they will never be happy. As I wrote earlier, I feel sorry for them.

Sounds like the West Stand mushrooms of yesteryear

I thought the new buzz word was "narrative"
Yes, narrative has now firmly superseded agenda.

Having a memory of what was discussed in the past on AVFTT is also not to be encouraged or applied to the here and now…..and absolutely will be valid grounds for character assassination and abuse about how empty your life is; how you are masquerading as a supporter and just scumbag messageboardery at its absolute worst

UNLESS of course you are relying on the “Critchley got us promoted once from a similar position he can do it again argument”…..in which case that’s perfectly acceptable reasonable recall and opinion, and jolly hockey sticks fine and dandy and The Luker can sleep soundly at night.

It's not entitled to be wanting the football club you support to be doing better

Let's be honest last season was a right fuck up and now we are in a lower league fans have every right to be wanting us to do better and be challenging at the top of this league

That's a realistic expectation for me
We all want to do as well as we can, but it's the impatient short termism that turns me off.

I honestly think that there's a hangover from the Oyston saga for some, they don't just take a bit of time out to see the long term view but would rather try and fight everything. We never used to be a fan base who would demand the manager's sacking after a few shit away days.

Maybe I'm just very ** tired.

I think we are all tired after the last couple of seasons. All of this could have been avoided had Sadler gone for a clean slate no baggage manager.
That's another strand, Critchley has been pissing against the wind since he came back, I do wonder if so many would want Dobbie out with the same record.

The whole situation is just unnecessarily toxic.

We have no idea if this would have been the case, we have what we have and it’s up to the owner to decide whether to stick or twist.

Football, like many things in life, is a game of if buts and maybes.

It is unnecessarily toxic, on here, but what I saw at PV on Friday was encouraging that so many still have the faith to go. Unfortunately they and the rest of us were let down again by the teams inept performance.

Fuck knows where we go from here but let’s hope it’s forward and up.

Disclaimer, fizzy wine has kicked in already🥂

I just meant the strife and atmosphere really. Crtichley has always been a bit cautious. Another manager wouldn’t have been announced as the best the club could get/the we’re going for promotion candidate/be carrying baggage from his last exit and the fans wouldn’t have the mistakes of the past clouding their view of what’s happening now and where we are versus where we think we should be.

Worse results but a more attractive set up and attack minded football would probably be more popular with fans than the current situation. If Critchley does happen to deliver a playoff place he will probably still be doing it based on playing tight possession football and taking the few chances we get via Rhodes and fans will take it.

When Critchley was first appointed I was excited about the prospect of him developing players and growing with the club which he did, subsequently I was still reasonably happy that he was reappointed for this season and the project could continue which I sort of think it is.

The massive elephant in the room is our away form which has hamstrung us from being higher up the table but realistically what other options were available apart from Dobbie who imo would have been to early for us.

I am not “entitled” I am a massive BFC fan and I want only the best for my home town club.
