Many AVFTT members are already aware that this report has now been published, and the club fined, following our game with Wigan Athletic in April.

BST's response, which also includes links to the FA Report and Blackpool F.C.'s reaction, is attached below.

There can be no doubt that how we as a fanbase behave in the future is very important, starting with the visit of Hibernian next weekend. BST's view is that we must collectively rally round the club and ensure that there is no repeat of the problems that have plagued it in recent times. Our response reflects this, whilst also expressing some disappointment that the F.A. did not also take the opportunity to examine how players should conduct themselves.

As always, we want to monitor how fans see important topical issues, and you can always contact us at listening@blackpoolsupporterstrust.com to express a view.

Most of the north stand won't understand the Hibs point, but McClean's history is well known and his overtly anti-British attitude, which ironically has little to do with religion per se, is what makes him a target for the misguided.

We lack strong stewarding, unfortunately. I don't believe that the idiots responsible for the chanting have any notion of sectarianism or an understanding of the Troubles in Ulster. Rather, this was an opportunity to rage against an opposition player who has a reputation for giving it back. At the very least there should have been repeated tannoy announcements condemning the chanting and explaining the potential consequences for the Club.

Agreed but you can’t hear the PA properly in the north

McClean's actions make him a target for anybody who doesn't agree with his actions and not just "the misguided".

The statement from the BST committee - lol - suggests that they - lol - believe that McLean's actions are questionable.

The Blackpool supporters went after him because of his actions - on that day and previously - and not because he happens to be an Irish Catholic.

There have been hundreds of Irish players that have played against Blackpool, there have been hundreds of Catholics that have played against Blackpool and there have been hundreds of Irish Catholics that have played against Blackpool, was it a coincidence that the Blackpool supporters had a go at McLean ?

McLean is a wrong'un full stop.

I do have sympathy with that position but I was at the ground that day and it wasn't as if he was leading the orchestra.

Once chanted ,you can't unchant.

Fair enough 66 and I won't pretend that I was at the game.

McClean has earned a good living plying his trade in the English game for a good number of years, as he is perfectly entitled to do so, but you can't go turning your bank on the national anthem, giving your kids history lessons - obv he can do that but he shouldn't have put his history lesson on the internet - and consistently play up to the crowd and not expect anything back.

He may not have lead the orchestra that day as you say but there wouldn't have been any orchestra but for him and Blackpool supporters have never sung "FTP" at Bloomfield Road on days when McClean wasn't present and that's not a coincidence.

I'd say it's McClean that needs educating - the BST spokesman might be suggesting that ? - more than the Blackpool supporters.

I really hope you follow up this with the numerous examples of other fans chanting misogynistic and homophobic abuse at Blackpool on a regular basis.

There's no place for the FtP chant, none whatsoever, and we deserve the fine. But it galls me that it always us who gets the fine and they are not dished out across football.

And yes, I've reported it in the past.

Reading some of the above I can only assume McClean is so hated by every teams supporters that every team he's played against has been fined £35k or thereabouts?

Oh, hang on, they all haven't have they. Just maybe, maybe, no it can't be......

Crack on and SS will close off the North or it will be closed by the football authorities as certain as night follows day.

And as I've said before SS won't want to keep paying fines.

.

You think SS will close the Kop?
