Favourite Scottish team and why.

Rangers 🇬🇧

Went over to watch Stranraer FC play Stenhousemuir last month as my lads team went over to play Stranraer youths , Only seen abit of the game as mostly in the bar

My Scottish team used to be Berwick as they were on the right side of The Wall.
However, today I came across The Spartans. Great name and they are in the League 2 Play Off Final.

That is not the Rangers crest.

In this order…

Stranraer because I caught a thorn back ray there as a kid

Partick Thistle because I’ve been and they’re not bigots

Inverness Cally thistle because I learnt to snowboard at Cairngorm

And Dumbarton because I had a mate from there, sons of the rock

Dumbarton my boxing coach as a kid was from there, so took them as my Scottish team, about 40 years of barely winning a game I sort of dropped them,
They have been on a roll since!

Dunfermline. Always been a fan of The Skids and Dunfermline still run out to 'Into The Valley'. Crap kit though.
Nothing wrong with the kit , been a fan all my life 71 years , born there , went to every game with my dad from the age of 4 , till we moved to the gold coast in 64 .

"STRANRAER....IN SCOTLAND....TODAY.....STRANRAER! oooohhh my angina YA KILLING ME! Ya wanna sing at mi funeral lads cos ya going that way!"

Anyone apart from the Old Firm with all their sectarian shite basically. My local pro team is Killie so I will say them, but my closest team is Beith, so them too

Kilmarnock mainly because we played them in the 1980 Anglo Scottish Cup and Bally fielded a 14 year old child.

FC Edinburgh (aka Edinburgh City, Meadowbank Thistle & Ferranti Thistle) it's a long story..........
Soft spots for Annan Athletic, Stirling Albion, Ross County & Bonnyrigg Rose.
I'm hoping to have visited every Scottish League ground with in the next 2 or 3 seasons.
Yes - me too ..Meadowbank !!! went to a few home games a long while back and a few away games at Queen of the South!

I followed Meadowbank back in the day before their demise! went to a few home games at Meadowbank stadium and a few away games at QOTS

Cowdenbeath. My dad always listened out for their results, so so do I. He told me my granddad had a trial for them in the 1920s, but that might have been bollocks.
Bizarrely, in the late 80s, I was on holiday in Slovenia and the then manager of Cowdenbeath was there. He didn't believe I knew who he was, and thought his wife had put us up to it. He spent most of the holiday going to the local village to use the post office fax machine.

Queens Park for me,

An ex's Dad was a Queen's Park fan and they lived near Hampden. I went to watch them a few times at Hampden Park and away from home saw them at Alloa. Gutted they missed out on promotion this season.

I keep an eye on Rangers.
My grandfather was a Publican in Blackpool and each year as a young 6-10 year old I remember loads of Scots would descend on his pub. Some turned out for his Sunday League Football team when they were down this way, probably half cut still from the night before.
Some brought me Rangers programmes so that was my interest/connection.

Partick Thistle for their outrageous colours of red and yellow hoops. Played a pre season friendly against them decades ago and it was the most colourful football pitch I'd ever seen.

Stranraer. I go on an annual family trip / pilgrimage with the in-laws each year to a village called Sandhead just down the road and have caught a few Stranraer games along the way - I even own a Stranraer scarf!
