Fiorini - The Big If

It helped that we had a really balanced midfield for once. Connelly played as a proper DM which allowed to creative players to actually play, plus both fiorini and patino actually get stuck in as well as showing for the ball, passing etc. Too many times this season we have had the wrong players in the wrong roles in the middle.

For me that is Connolly's best position if he wants regular starts, the fact he can cover RB and CB is a bonus

Patino playing alongside Fiorini with a DM behind him is like a different player. He's looked totally lost playing the holding mid with Carey but Tues night looked more like a player who might make it at the top level.
I'd love us to sign Fiorini permanently but I doubt it's feasible on our budget. Rogers too, who's starting to look the part having had a run of games.

I doubt we can sign Charlie or Morgan TBH but something tells me that Lewis might be achievable. Can't be on more than £10 a week at City surely even allowing for their moneybags operation and if we placed quality at the heart of recruitment and are still in the Championship that's not unreasonable. Releasing Stewart and Bridcutt would help fund that too.

I think we'd have a very good chance of signing Rogers

Far as I can remember most people saw the initial promise and talent in the lad, but the issue was none of us got to see enough of it thanks to bad luck with injury Those calling for him to be sent back were, as far as I can recall, largely doing so cos it sounded like he was crocked for the season. The fact he has made it back and is looking ready to rock is a superb boost. Will he save us? Not on his own but I sure as hell think his return can play a huge part.

Amongst the many regrets from this season one of the biggest will be the fact those injuries deprived us of seeing this lad's talent on show more often. He can and should have a bright future.
