I read yesterday, I think it was in the Mirror that the Police are going to start cracking down on the use of firesticks. First of all by visiting over 1000 homes whose addresses they have obtained and threatening the owners with prosecution.

Don't shoot the messenger, just what I have read.

You can’t be prosecuted for having a Firestick, they are a valid means of streaming a varied amount of programs.
 
They have been threatening this for years. The only people they visit are the source. It's wise to have a back up provider.

No chance whatsoever.

They’ve no spare resource and can’t even investigate home invasion where Cctv is available. It’s a headline with no resource.

Police will stick to what they are best at. Arresting women walking together in open hills during Covid and sending letters to people caught driving 34mph down roads with no accidents with a 50 year old 30mph sign up.

From what I read its not the fire stick that is the problem, its what you stream. i.e. football, films and series that are pay per view.

FACT is an organisation set up to prevent piracy. it seems to work in the same way as PPS, PRS &VPS, who licence public performances of different kinds and ensure the performers etc are given their royalties.

Actually thinking about it, the only way this would actually happen is if Sky or Netflix funded a private militia to police this (which they are probably more capable of than the Police being able to fund it)
 
To be honest i wish they would crack down on it. I'm sick of hearing about people who fiddle the water, electricity meters and use firesticks. No wonder my bills are so high, its to make up for the free loaders.
 
If Sky , BT and the other sports channels charged a reasonable fee maybe piracy would not be such an issue . This would reduce the amount of money slushing about the Premier League but maybe not such a bad thing .

This is exactly the same thing as when ISPs sent letters out to people pirating films. They could only send 3 letters and then take no further action. It's a scare tactic.
 
Fact is the police can’t enter your house without either your permission or a warrant. They aint gonna get a thousand warrants.


In short it’s bollox. The only way they can “attack“ the illegal streaming market is by using technology to disrupt it and by targeting the Distributors.

and who cares anyway, life is too short…..if you want to stream virtually everything you could possibly want including ppv events for a flat annual fee of circa £50-80 a year than crack on 👍

I’ve seen these grooming gangs in my village. £10 gets your beard trimmed and those hot wax buds shoved up your nostrils.

There’s a load of women at it as well. All obsessed by Brazil
 
You can watch IPTV on any device that has an internet browser..You can hide your IP address with a VPN. So how do they find you?🧐

The police seem to work for big corporations more than the individual members of the public.

I’d much prefer them to go after peados. Or if it’s financial crimes they want to specialise in they could target the online fraudsters who scam the vulnerable. The scammers literally ruin lives. But they won’t have much resources for that cos they’ve been subcontracted by Sky to be a free compliance service. It’s a joke.

If revenues to Sky etc are lowered then I think it would be a good thing. Football has been corrupted by money. It’s obscene. It’s all about money. Football has sold its soul to overseas faceless conglomerates and immoral billionaires.

I don’t have one of these illegal Firesticks but as a member of the public who keeps hearing about police resource issues, I’d want them to target their scant resource at crimes which damage society the most.
