On this evening - Talking Pictures.

I didn't realise that it was set in 2062 - less than 40 years to go before they blast off.

Actually Gordon or John, depending who was manning Thunderbird 5 at the time.

I'm hating myself just typing that.
John was mostly banished to Thunderbird 5 as Gerry Anderson hated his puppet so much so his times in Thunderbird 4 were few and far between. I’m hating myself for replying in such detailed terms too 🤣

I loved Fireball XL5. Until the episode "Faster Than Light", XL5 travelled through space at sub-light speed. Its rocket motors, powered by a nutomic reactor, providing a maximum safe speed of space velocity 7. The crew did not wear spacesuits outside the ship, but took oxygen pills to survive the vacuum. The ship's neutroni radio enabled virtually instantaneous communication with Space City.

I wonder what happened to Steve Zodiac and Dr Venus? I was only a child at the time but I suspected they were at it.

Some might know the answer to this but I know Thunderbirds was set in 2065 so....guessing that Scott (the eldest sibling), was 30, he's going to be born in 12 years time. Say, Jeff Tracy was 25 at the time of his birth that would mean there's a very wealthy, American teenage oik dreaming of going into space right now.

I think most Jerry Anderson programmes were set 100 years into the future from the year they were made
