First Ever SHERPA Van game 83/84

Anyone on here go to our first ever game in this tournament?, I think we lost 2-1 away at Chester with Dave Serella scoring.

Didn't go to that one but the following season I remember a home game against Tranmere that didn't get the go ahead until about 7.00pm due to snow. Ground didn't open until the ref gave the go ahead, and I think most of the crowd (1,400 or so) went in the Scratching Shed. Think it was the Freight Rover, didn't the name change to Sherpa Van a bit later.

Wasn't the Football League Group competition a pre-season thing, same as the Anglo Scottish and Lancashire/Manx Cup

Nice memory 👍

I went to Chester in about 1986 when we won 4-1. I think it we had Mark Taylor and Alex Dyer ripping them to shreds from the wings that day.

That was the day after Boxing Day. We'd won the day before at home. Can't remember why, if it was an injury or a sending off but we had to draft in a temporary keeper for the Chester game that nobody knew who it was when he took the field before kick off... Vince O'Keeffe ?
