fixture congestion

Is it me, or has it been especially bad this year, because of weather, mainly?

Halifax are playing their next two home games at Accrington because of the state of their pitch. And Truro's calendar for this week saw/sees them playing Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday again.

It's not you Basil:
According to provisional figures from the Met Office, 1,695.9mm of rain fell from October 2022 to March 2024. This is the highest amount of rain for any 18-month period in England since the organisation began collecting comparable data back in 1836.
The Halifax pitch must be particularly bad if they're using Accy's,as theirs isn't too good!
Considering our facilities & absence of undersoil heating, our groundsman & staff have excelled this season.

If you think any of that is bad, look in the NW Counties League. Especially Colne FC.

Tuesday 9th - Cheadle Town (H)
Wednesday 10th - Padiham (A)
Thursday 11th day off
Friday 12th - FC Isle of Man (H)
Saturday 13th - Longridge Town (A)
Sunday 14th day off
Monday 15th - Glossop North End (H)
Tuesday 16th - Ramsbottom United (A)
Wednesday 17th - Charnock Richard (H)
Thursday 18th - Pilkington (H)
Friday 19th day off yippee
Saturday 20th - Litherland REMYCA (A)

Nine games in twelve days...

Oh and they have been allowed a week off before one final game at home to Skelmersdale United on 27th.

Colne`s pitch (and ground) is a shocker with a massive slope and poor drainage. Was always a quagmire in winter at the best of times.

There will be some groin injuries after that schedule...

You beat me to it with Colne Fc. I heard it on the radio a week or so ago. Crazy schedule.

I was at the Shay on Sunday to watch Halifax Panthers play Batley Bulldogs. The pitch was pretty cut up before kickoff, then there was a monsoon throughout the game, needless to say by the end it was a mud bath. Halifax Town are always moaning about the pitch and blame the Panthers, I think it's just a badly drained pitch that is being over used.
