Just seen a couple of Chinooks going over Blackpool and thought Id see what's going on.
Anyway tracked them and they were going North, however when they reached Morecambe Bay Area, they just disappeared, and I can't find them now.
Anyone ITK if this is normal or is there some sort of "Zone" up that way?

Will depend on height and radar coverage, and staying in range of the data feed that is used to track their positions. Military aircraft might switch their transponders off depending on what they're doing as well.

I do find Flightradar24 quite fascinating, I can play on it for ages. Just clicked on a random plane flying over Scotland and it came up with TYPH0012 so I’m assuming an RAF Typhoon? It’s currently taking a bit of a random path around Berwick on Tweed

I agree it's fascinating , there's loads of military stuff going on every day at the moment , not just RAF but the yanks have some serious kit over here doing it's stuff.

They disappeared into a worm hole which leads to another dimension. I saw it in a film once.

I love it ,I tracked Gareth bales plane coming from Madrid when going to Tottenham (sky sports got it wrong had him landing at the wrong airport can't remember which one ), but it wasnt Luton.

The Final Countdown with Kirk Douglas? Modern day American aircraft carrier ends up going back in time to just before Pearl Harbour and nearly ends up taking the Japanese on but gets returned beck to present day just before the day the Japanese attack. Great old film

Was originally released as the ‘Philadelphia Experiment’ if memory serves me correct?

Think that’s a different movie Seasideone although from a similar era. I think that one was set in earlier times and they end up going forward in time.

Just installed this app, I've had one called Marine Radar for a while, that's also quite fascinating

It may well have changed in the past 47 years but RAF Valley on Anglesey was the centre for basic jet pilot training, hence the Hawks
RAF Valley, #4 Flying Training School, is the advanced jet training school.

In the 50s, 60s and 70s the basic jet trainer was the Jet Provost/ Strikemaster. That was carried out at RAF Leeming, Topcliffe and Linton on Ouse.

At Valley, the advanced jet trainer was the Gnat and Hunter until the Hawk was introduced in 1976.
I worked on the Gnat flight line for 18 months and then went into the hangar on rectification and scheduled servicing for 5 years.

I've spent time at both Valley and Linton-on-Ouse and to this day I've thought the Provost was the advanced trainer.

I worked on Strikies for the Oman Air Force.
These were ground attack aircraft.
Used to arm 7 of them daily with 1100 rounds of 7.62 mm shells.
They'd fly over into Yemen looking for hostiles.
They always came back with empty magazines.

the Langoliers stephen king novel

I haven't gone on one of these in years, was shocked at how few flights there were compared to the last time I've been on there! Really shows the impact of COVID. Used to be the UK was covered in yellow planes, whereas now it's just a handful.
