"Football has a natural cycle"

He was playing well at the time?
Offered a new contract unlike Marv and accepted?
He's cheap can't imagine him being on big money probably about fifth what Connolly was on.

Hate the grief the bloke gets slagging our own players all the time for me makes you a complete t wat.
Just difficult watching someone play 35+ games and him being horrendous in 97% of them.

Despite his deficiencies, he can still do a job for us. Ditch defending and play him into space, so he can use his pace. Have forwards and midfield that gamble on getting into the box. Then pray he manages to pass somewhere near one of them. Additionally when defending corners, he should be on the half way line, giving us an outlet and the chance of a break away goal.
Perhaps if this was all he had to focus on it might work often enough to justify his inclusion.

CJ was offered a deal based on his early season form, rumours of other clubs being interested and a very smart agent. 4 goals and 8 assists isn't really good enough. To get into the top 6 we need 3 or 4 players hitting double figures.

CJ was our 3rd best goal contributor and picked up the 2nd most man of the match awards despite playing out of position as a wingback.
He had a great run of form between the Wigan and Pompy matches, getting 2 goals and 6 assists in 14 matches. So it is understandable why he was offered a new contract following this form.
I personally don't think he is good enough to start, especially not as a wingback. However he is a good option to bring on to stretch opposition defences with his pace.

CJ can be dangerous if played correctly, problem being he doesn't get played in the right system

We all know he can't tackle, can't head the ball, lacks concentration and has a heart of a pea yet he's played as a wing back most of the time

If he's going to play he needs to be played high up the pitch as one of the three in a 433 so he can use his only real asset and that's his pace

Yes, weird isn't it that he did nothing after he signed a new contract.

My two mates who support League One clubs - Wigan and Pompey always talk about CJ as being our biggest threat and they hate playing against him.

I would rather see him as an out of position centre forward than an out of position right wing back but in reality he should be on the left using his explosive pace to hurt the opposition. On his day he is a massive asset but those days are few and far between. I have always thought He would be a fantastic super sub coming on to ruin players with tired legs but looks like he is always going to be picked in front of Gabriel as our inverted wing back.
