Freedom

3 million immune deficiency sufferers? Really? 1 in 20 people? Hmmmm...
Well here's a thought for some of you

Turns out that me and the wife caught Covid-19 on Sunday....We have both been double jabbed for about 2 months now....But we still caught it..

Were off work, feeling like crap, freezing one minute, sweating the next, suffering unbelievably painful headaches that knock you out.
I'm spending 12 - 18 hours in bed groaning, coughing, sneezing and wondering if this shit will ever end.........I've also lost my sense of smell and taste....which is worrying!!!...My body aches and I've not eaten since Sunday.......so, I'm feeling a bit crap

So....my thoughts on your "Freedom".......Honestly.....The whole of the UK, vaccinated or not will catch Covid-19 over the next few months....you may not die 🤔, but you will feel so ill....and god help us if it mutates into something else...

You really have to be braindead if you honestly think you are going to wander around inside shops, pubs etc. without a mask and nothing is going to happen to you......
So when you get this virus.......and you will........remember the absolute shit you wrote on here
When you see your mates, colleagues and family catching this because everyone has taken off their masks and gone back to "normality".......😊🤣

Also....I've been double jabbed, so according to the Government, I don't have to isolate, if someone tests positive.......So people in the same situation as me, can go out and spread Covid without any cares, so in August & September when 500,000+ are feeling ill every month, enjoy your "Freedom"
Hope you and the Mrs both make a full and speedy recovery.

Booing other country's national anthem is counter productive. It fires up the opposition. How, by any measure, is that helpful? I stand by my description.
I wouldn’t do it as I think it’s pointless and disrespectful BUT I know people that have who are far from Idiots who have done that. Do they amazingly change into Idiots for a minute or so? Does their intelligence desert them for one minute and return 60 seconds later?

It would appear so😉

They certainly haven't thought it through. Cause and effect, consequences etc etc

At the moment it looks a bit like scaremongering. Long Covid. Weird mutant strains. We can’t be worrying about things that haven’t happened or are pretty rare. Chances are we will be fine. The majority have been vaccinated. Hospitalisations are less than normal flu levels. Part of me thinks we should just stop all the testing and crack on. We can’t keep shutting schools, businesses etc because of 1 or 2 cases. The fear is driving even more insecurities from people emerging from 18 months of abnormal lockdown crap. The longer this drags on, the worse it will be. We’ve now hit the target for vaccinations. Others will likely get herd immunity - which is what the Gov thought about doing originally.

See again you automatically think they haven’t thought it through because you think that if they had they would have no option but to agree with you Wiz.....it’s a dangerous way of thinking because it closes your mind to anything but your own “version” of things

Boris and his elite cronies wanted a herd immunity from the very start. He's going to get his wish now and can blame the necessary deaths to achieve this on the publics lack of hygiene and social distancing.

Let's be clear here, there is one way and one way only out of a pandemic and that is herd immunity, the only question is how you get there.

They did say that though and the population has taken it seriously.
If they had said we are going to take strong measures but not as severe as other countries, however, it will still kill over 120,000 people in the next year. Or they could have said -fuck it, we will live with it, not take any measures and easily over 500,000 will die this year.

Say goodbye to your vulnerable friends and family.

What would you have chosen?

Sorry, what is the point of this question?

Not sure Long Covid can be so easily dismissed. Some people are debilitated for 12 months or more. Some have ended up with permanent health issues and still haven't recovered from the first wave and the numbers are increasing over time. At current infection rates of 32,000 a day, it works out at 700 a day who will get Long Covid (defined as still ill after 12 weeks). The predicted rise in overall cases will then see over 1000 a day getting Long Covid. The affects are numerous and because they last for a long period of time, it means there will be a build up of people who can't work and need continual, long term NHS treatment.

I predicted last year that this was a ticking time bomb and would end up becoming the next big challenge simply due to the numbers (totally unreported back then but obvious from the number of support groups people were turning to on Facebook etc.) and the length of time people were remaining ill.

Worth a read:
Thanks for pointing that article out. Interesting theory that previous dormant viruses in the body might get activated by Covid.

With so little knowledge on Long Covid and the bewildering array of symptoms that it causes, it's scary to see all preventative measure being cast aside. We can just hope that the vast majority eventually return to a normal level of health again even if it does take a few years.

What's the alternative?

Carry on in lockdown for the next 20 years because maybe possibly perhaps something bad might happen, not that lockdown would prevent it anyway.

I'm afraid in this case the PM is right, if not now then when?

Just keep some basic preventative measures in place where most needed (indoor, crowded places, transport etc).

"I predicted last year that this was a ticking time bomb"

BHOK - I'm thinking some will think that you are genius and ahead of your time and others will think that you are not right here but if you spend all your life making predictions of doom it is inevitable that you will be right one day - broken clock and all that.

Ticking time bomb?? I think 7 million on waiting lists, 300,000 kids isolating from school, businesses going pop with jobs going as a result & numerous mental health issues due to lockdowns and restrictions are ticking a bit more loudly than your Long Covid prediction.

Give you your due, you follow a precise template of new variant, long Covid, new variant, long covid... that takes some doom and gloom.

You don’t want this to end do you? 🤗

Interesting that 50% of 18-24 year old men have not come forward for the jab, well that should be superseded tonight when hundreds of thousands are in pubs, homes etc, hugging each other. Herd immunity guaranteed.
