So it's Macron V Le Pen

I wouldn't normally think that Le Pen would have a hope; but she's finessed the message and the appeal, Macron is still divisive and has been brutal with his own citizens especially around the Yellow Vests (remember them!)

It's probably going to be closer than it has been given the lack of endorsement from Mélenchon, Macron has got a bit of work to do.

I still can't see beyond him but it would be seismic if he lost.

It maybe close, that said Le Pen was way off what people thought last time so I still think Macron will do it, with a much lower majority maybe.

Le Pen must be a head scratcher for RWNJ's. She has called Nato warmongers, likes Putin and has vowed to keep Russian gas to keep costs down for French citizens. Clearly Putin would want her elected, to destabilise Europe further. I'd say the eurosceptics in the Tory Party would welcome her as well.

Mélenchon has endorsed Macron..

Macron wanted to "piss off" the unvaccinated so that's around a fifth of voters automatically against him whatever their previous allegiance.

Macron will walk it, basically the 22% who voted for Mèlenchon will vote for Macron.
It's strange though, that Macron will be president because people voted against his opponent rather than for him.
At least I bloody hope they do.
Edit to add, this is pretty much what happened 5 years ago, which is why Macron is so unpopular.

Don’t think they will. That’s what happened last time but we’ve moved on. A lot of them probably won’t vote on the basis they despise Macron as well. There comes a point where people think “feck it; let’s kick over the bricks and see what happens. It can’t be worse”.

Obviously though it can be.

Also compare that to Zemmour’s supporters (much smaller number admittedly) who’ll be far more likely to switch to Le Pen.

It would certainly be seismic, I can’t see it happening, but there are precedents, Brexit and Trump were unlikely to win.

Le Pen’s party National Rally ditched the idea of Frexit a couple of years ago. They say they want to change the EU from within. Good luck with that idea.🇫🇷

Yeah, but would you genuinely prefer Le Pen to win from here? He is by far the lesser of the two evils surely?
It’s not so much what I want but people in France have drifted away from Macron over the last couple of years and change is always an option that many are prepared to make.
I honestly think she’ll be a better leader for the French people the rest of Europe I’am not too sure.

Well I can clearly see that it might happen, but I am pretty sure the one world leader celebrating the most would be Putin, and we know a Russian Bank has funded her.
She may have learned to turn down her rhetoric for now, but I would not expect that to last long if she is elected!

If Le Pen gets its it'll be cosy chats round the fire with Johnson at Putin's gaff. He'll make them a hot chocolate, pat their head, stick a few roubles in there pocket. How brilliant having those in his pocket.
