Exclusive …to all newspapers!! Millions of saverners thwarted from nipping over to France for a short break due to change in amber thingy! Aw bless em!

Can’t believe anyone could be arsed going anywhere at the moment. After all there nowhere quite like the UK in the summertime.
Just did 2 weeks in Somerset and then Cornwall.
Have to say Cornwall was a joke. Heaving with families everywhere (kids must be self isolating or Scottish…) prices at least double of last year. Even got quotes £800 per night for a coupe by one hotel. Then you cannot get in a restaurant as booked at least one week ahead so book v early (again only 2 of us yet still struggled).
Basically they’ve no capacity to meet demand and it’s not school hols yet.

We spent way more than a 2 week 5* Cruise would cost without the luxury

Whilst 50 years ago people went to the traditional seaside resorts, and then they all went to Spain or other hot climes for months since last year all the chat has been “Cornwall and Devon, Cornwall and Devon”.

So it’s not very surprising that “Cornwall and Devon” are very crowded already and taking the piss on price.

There’s lots of England (and Scotland and Wales) to explore outside of those two counties. There is also a fair argument that both counties are a bit overrated.

Do you work for the Hamps Tourist Office by any chance?

It must be really galling to go on holiday only to find that loads of others have had the same idea.
There should be a banding system to ensure the more deserving get an idyllic break before the riff-raff can join in.
😉

I suppose you were a victim of circumstances sadly.
