I don't mean actually knock off, but what time do you just give up and waste time till you can get away with clearing off/closing down whatever...

I've hit the wall for the week now. Back in the day, i'd go for a 3 pint lunch and then do as little as possible until 5.

3:15 pm I normally work until 1pm , have my lunch and then catch up with my paperwork for the rest of the day .

When I worked in the Civil Service, it was down to the pub at 12.30pm on Friday and stay there until home time. Probably not normal practice now. At least I hope not.

When you're retired there's no knocking off early.
No bank holidays, no weekends, no 30 days paid holidays.
It's full-time 365, 24/7.

2pm on Fridays but I do start @ 6am. Normally start winding down from 6am Monday as my boss is an absolute knobjockey and we play a game of hide and seek all week.

I'm retired, but when I did work I worked from home. If I wasn't on the road or at a clients I had their reports to write which were expected within seven days of my visit, so it was quite often between 6 & 7 when I finished on a Friday, in order to complete a report. Occasionally I would manage to finish around 4.30 but was still expected to answer the phone if it rang. I never had a 9.to 5 job in all my working life.

Finish my normal job at 1.30, have a couple of hours off then deliver pizzas and kebabs until about 9pm.

I think when the pubs get back to normal, I’ll swap my delivery gig for a nice Friday afternoon session instead.

When I’m in on Fridays ( Thanks to working a 12 hour continental shift pattern ) I can’t ease up until the next shift come in to hand over to them.
Being on a production line it’s either a 6:00 am or a 6:00 pm start and you’re literally non stop for the 12 hour duration.

God these Xmas holidays can’t come soon enough

Retired from full-time career work in summer 2019. Before then I used to work up to 4.30pm or 5pm on Fridays. Since then I do some part time work averaging 1.5 to 2 days a week, but can vary it as a wish because I don't need to work. Most of that is usually on Mondays and Wednesdays. Yesterday I worked for a couple of hours up to 11am and had the rest of the day free

What's work? 😉 Been retired for 21 years.😀
What I like to call 'my main job' as a Customs Officer, it was all shift work so couldn't knock off early.
However, at regional airports like Luton, where I was, there were often big gaps between flights.
The bar was a 30 second walk away.👍
Not just on Fridays either.😋
