Funny people

Was it Catherine Tate who did the skit where she claimed to be fluent in several languages? So was brought into a meeting involving lots of foreigners. Very funny in a sort of ā€œMind your languageā€ / ā€œAllo alloā€ type of way.

It also reminds me of a story (which may or may not be true) of a court hearing involving a German witness with no English. A court translator couldnā€™t be found and it looked as if the hearing would have to be adjourned when a little bloke at the back said he could speak German and would be happy to help. The judge was suitably grateful and asked the man to step forward.

ā€œThank you very much for your assistance. Could you please ask the witness his name.ā€

ā€œCertainly you honourā€.

Turning to the witness he asked:

ā€œUnd vot is your name?ā€.

The judge was unamused
