Gary Lineker

It's all a matter of opinions and I agree with Mates on this one, especially as his salary comes from the public.
For an overpaid presenter, Lineker was very outspoken in his support as a remoaner & insulting towards brexiteers 😆

Liked him as a player. One of my all times for England. Sadly gone off him since he became a presenter.

What I find bizarre is that BBC Studio's don't list who gets paid what.

So we've no idea how the talented presenters get paid from the license fee and I'm not sure why?

He seems to have aged a lot recently. Paid far too much. Get rid and employ someone much cheaper.Show more highlights and less pundits. In fact get rid of all the pundits.👍😜⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
The length of the highlights is dictated by the TV rights deal. If I remember rightly it is a maximum of 8 minutes from any single game.

The fact is Gary Lineker has commented on it. So odd thread to bring it up.

Don't let that fact stop the gammoning
Gammoning hahah once again ignoring the content as it doesn’t suit your warped agenda and instead attacking me calling me a gammon. Classic Leftism.

He gets paid a lot no doubt about it, I'm sure he would say the same, I'm pretty sure he pays a lot of tax aswell.
He does get a lot of abuse from a certain demographic, is it his wages or is it his opinions that annoy them, maybe both?
If I complain about most CEOs in the UK being paid disproportionately too much in comparison to their skills and the employees at the same company I would be accused of being envious, I'm not, I agree they should be paid more, I just think it should be more in line with the rest of the workforce.
Is it a case of double standards being applied by people that generally hold right wing opinions.

It's pretty clear he's an insufferable self-righteous **. A Poundland Bono. I'm not sure why everyone listens to him. Like going to Rusty Lee for DIY advice. The guy is just a gimp unless he's talking about football in which you can disagree as well.
He is was Mr Stop Brexit despite getting paid by the BBC which are meant to be impartial. That’s a joke. Brexit showed them for what they are.

Hmmm, not much of one, in my opinion. He went right down in my estimation when his first wife had to divorce him citing unreasonable behaviour…and with four sons, one of whom had been seriously ill….
You have to give a reason and the decent thing to do as a bloke is to go down the unreasonable behaviour route and apply it to yourself. You'd be a bit of dickhead if you wouldn't do that for your wife and mother of your kids when the simple truth is that you no longer wanted to be together.

Do I think he's a good presenter - yes. He also seems a decent man. Is he worth his salary? So long as senior surgeons, medics, Headteachers and Senior Police officers don't get that sort of money - no.

I won't pretend that I have a problem with a sports presenter earning more than a headteacher etc myself but you are clearly more principled than your fellow AVFTT lefties who are defending Lineker's salary because they agree with his political views.

If Lineker wasn't a lefty, all we'd be hearing about is how criminal his salary was and how he shouldn't be getting paid as much during a cost of living crisis etc, etc.

Not seen many people with right wing views criticise the ever growing gulf in CEO pay, or the massive dividend payments made to shareholders while companies refuse to give workers pay rises that are even half way to matching inflation!
Footballers get paid too much, actor's get paid too much, Lineker gets paid too much, most company executives get paid too much but a large section of the population pick on Lineker because they don't like his views and they say nothing about other disparities in pay that effect many more people.

It's not a game for me. Pay footballers well, and TV Presenters but they are not the bedrock of society. I'd pay senior engineers more than footballers any day of the week. Enjoy your heroes, salute them but put your senior, skilled workers at the top of any pile.

It's not a game for anybody 66.

I'm happy to go with market forces but you won't be alone in wanting to see brain surgeons paid more than footballers etc, we just hold differing opinions on the matter.

The point I was making is that you are not willing to change your view on Lineker's salary just because he may hold similar political views to you, which is more than can be said for your fellow AVFTT lefties.

I certainly have no problem with how much CEOs, footballers, actors or sports presenters such as Lineker get paid.

You have decided that all such groups are overpaid, an opinion that you are entitled to hold and express on here but your views on the matter are not definitive.

I'm not sure Lineker should be spouting the chite he does while employed by the BBC but I won't lose any sleep over it.

I just found it rather amusing to see the lefties defending Lineker's salary when they are up in arms about any other fecker who happens to earn plenty.

I think it's a myth that people with left wing views begrudge people being well paid. I'm all for people being well paid, people with special skills and talents should obviously be paid more.
What I don't like is a worker being paid 25000, a manager 40,000, area manager 70,000 and then the ceo getting 750,000 plus bonuses!
Where is the logical progression in salaries?
As for Lineker it's rather amusing to see the righties up in arms about his views when they never ever question the large number of people who earn inflated wages and actually have an effect on their lives.
I suppose its similar to them blaming asylum seekers and people on benefits for the countries problems and not the people who have actually been running the country for the last 12 years!!

Go and read your Guardian and while your at it apply to house some. I heard Gary has them living at his house eating a certain brand of crisp he advertises despite working for a BBC many pay for including the most vulnerable pensioners. No I am not his biggest fan. It’s not me being racist because hi is a man of colour now apparently. Next he will be marching at Gay pride. That must be worth some virtue signalling points.
