Get the new manager now.

We are going backwards at a rate of knots under MM.

He’s only here to the end of the season and based on performances under his leadership he’s not going to save us from the inevitable. To be fair it’s unlikely anyone could.

Go and get the manager now that we believe is going to be with us next year. At least they can then come in assess the squad and do the required preparation for next season.

This would them give us the best chance of assembling a squad that hopefully will be competitive.

Doing nothing now leaves us exposed in the Summer.

Get Scott Brown in.

Young ambitious manager in his first season starting to turn things around.

Working wonders down the road and 5th round of FA cup.

Might cost a few quid Mind but they are just a pub team so come on Simon talk to AP. 🙃

He won’t talk to him, he’ll either give the gig to MM or to some other grey, dull manager.

I doubt it’s feasible now, no one can come in and keep us up, the board won’t pay off MM because they know that nobody suitable will want a job at a club which is almost certainly down. The Huddersfield and Rotherham games were the key, both should, and could have been won if he’d adopted different tactics and team selection. After that anyone who thought we could stay up was living in fantasy land. We’re stuck with him and we’re going down. I’m off to the pub to drown my sorrows.

Would cost too much to suddenly give MM the elbow who will be on a contract of some sort u til the end of the season.
however, that doesn’t stop the owner/ board doing all their homework (ha ha) now nd having someone lined up and as you say start the ground running immediately this season is over. If we wait until the end of the season and then take 3/4 weeks to appoint someone we will miss out on new recruits.

Ok pay off MM and just give the job to Dobbie and Eardley until the end of the season

It wouldn’t cost any more money, they have an affiliation to the club, the supporters will get behind them and create a great atmosphere.

I do understand they are untested, but at the current time we are going down without a fight.

Do something different now.

Everyone is going to have their own views on ANY manager we get in
BUT....Brown would be a great shout for Pool when we hit League 1
Pilley has spent some money on the squad and got a few decent loans in, but you can see they have growth and they are playing really decent football
I doubt Pilley would let him go....and let's be honest, would he want to come here.

There will be unproven people in the football world who could do what Scott Brown is doing at Fleetwood.

Fundamentally our recruitment process for a Head Coach has been flawed.

That includes Neil Critchley whose best periods were when he had an experienced assistant (Calderwood or McCall).

This board and ownership now have to come clean and own up to the huge mistakes made over this last 12 months.

Oh yes: they want your money quick enough remember.

So the managerial situation at this point is not a top priority for me because we're getting relegated.

We have a quarter of the season left and it's clear that dear old MM is not the answer. If Dobbie / Eardley don't keep us up then at least we won't go down wondering.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing
Bringing in a experienced manger was probably the right call after Appleton departure (we all know Appleton was the wrong choice in the first place)
Can’t see SS making another change now as they are probably preparing for league 1 behind the scenes next season
But that combination of dobbie and eardley bringing passion and playing experience to the squad now seems a better choice, but I think that would off been too bold of a decision due to lack of managerial experience,
Unfortunately under MM we are doomed I think this is the 2nd or 3rd game without a shot on target,
If we are going down let’s go with some fight and passion
So yes I agree with you make the change now
like someone said earlier Wigan have
What have we to lose.
Utmp

What has got us in this shit is aimless lurching from one thing to another in a illogical way. I'm not really sure what firing a manager after six games will achieve to change that, other than mark us out as the kind of club that managers would be wise to steer clear of if they have a choice.

We want to attract the sort of managers who have a choice don't we?

Again tbh for me your logic is correct
I agree our policy of appointing manager is terrible,
Surely this has to be one of the questions asked at the meeting
Why Grayson
Why Appleton
Ex managers who have not exactly had long term success in there careers
MM I can see the logic tbh like him or not has experienced in the championship
But unfortunately has now been shown as a dinosaur in the modern football world

On their own, I can see the logic in all the choices to an extent. As a series, I really can't. Each one, including Critchley, had a different approach and thus, each time, we needed to remake the squad. The only time we actually did that was for Critch.

Grayson was doing ok-ish then they brought in a structure he was never going to fit with. We had a mad January then sacked him.

Critch then binned off the whole squad more or less. Ok, we did that and it worked out, but we had 5 months to do it, which is a once in a lifetime thing.

Appleton needed different players. We didn't get them, then we eventually did but we sacked him almost as soon as they'd arrived. .

We then got Mick a whole TWO players to facilitate his completely different approach, one of whom is now out for the season.

None of it adds up to a structured approach to succession, based around any kind of identity or philosophy. We thought we had a certain identity, but it turns out that was all Critchley and not structural at all.

I'm not really fussed about making the board grovel. What I want is a clearly expressed plan about where we go now and what we're trying to be as I can't see one ATM.

Get rid. Appoint Dobbie and Thommo. At least if we go down we we’ll go down fighting (not literally). We are not a terrible side. Remember Burnley away Sheff U away PNE at home. Those players are still here. How have they become so bad? Plan now for a new manager in the summer and get them appointed as soon as the season ends. If it’s a Critch type figure get them in early to work behind the scenes on next season. If we go down and recruitment (of manager and players) doesn’t improve dramatically we could struggle to survive in League One.

Anything is worth a try.
Would need to know the current squad though, so that’s a bit limiting.
Going down with a whimper otherwise.

Holloway would keep us up with the players we have. They're perfect for his brand of expansive football.

As wind ups go, this is one of your better ones 😂😂😂

Let's hope the next manager gets the team to keep the ball on the ground, and play passing football. statistically BFC must have the record in world football for the most head tennis/ air headers every game with 90% of headers just being directed at the opposing team.. must be 15O headers each game to nobody. Let's not talk about hoof football and goal keeping kicking!! Let's hope new manager has already been approached for next season.

Why do people keep saying Dobbie? He’s a rookie development coach, never actually signed for us properly. People say ‘well Critchley was a rookie’ but he wasn’t, he’d been a coach at Crewe and Liverpool for pushing twenty years. Let Dobbie learn the ropes.
If we were going for a ‘known to us’ we should look at someone like Richie Kyle. *awaits Mansford opening talks with Micky Mellon*

As I said on another thread, there is no way that SS will get another manager in.
Must have paid a chunk to Appleton, and would have pay MM to end of contract/season.

If the rumour is true, he's having a little financial trouble at present, and other things on his mind.
That info came off here so no idea if it's true.
Can't see him dipping into his pocket again right now.

If they prove that heading the ball gives you dementia and ban it ,we will not touch the ball!

Lets get all the ex players who have been in management from the Prem season any who have coaching badges also welcome and bring back Horner.

Sod the manager get players that can pass to their team mates
I'm not in the camp that our players are simply not good enough. We should be performing much better than we are. An example of how much difference a different coach and regime can make is the England cricket team. Gone from habitually losing and looking like a band of losers, 17 games without a win, to winning every game everywhere they go, embarrassing the opposition on their own pitches. With not much more than a change of leadership and mentality. Shit players or great players? Which are they? Both!

I'd be happy with someone like Gary Monk. He did well at a few clubs, had his teams playing good football and is still quite young.

Whoever we go for in the summer, I hope it is not a dinosaur (it’s obvious big Mick is not the answer!) and we go for a modern, young, progressive manager in the general mould of Critchley who would buy into a longer term project.

Thompson ???? What’s the obsession with him??? Look forward not back

For all we know we may already have a replacement who isn't available until summer which I hope is true because I don't want MM on a permanent basis no matter if he saves us or not. We need someone with something to prove and who knows he needs to think differently. I say he there a couple of she's I could mention and I'd love us to be trailblazers and do just that, as long as I don't have to watch women playing football. Just for balance I can't stand the 100 either.
