Gettting excited about the new season

I can’t wait for the season to begin . Critch built a promotion and championship team basically from scratch . I’d like to thank him but near the end he seemed to run out of ideas of what to do when we needed a boost a sub etc. if we get Liam risori he has a great bunch of lads to work with and add 3 or 4 quality players and I can see us being top ten . Maybe optimistic with top ten but certainly comfortable .

Well short of being excited. Enjoying the weekends off and not having that weekly commitment for a couple of months. In fact rarely get in to a season until about October. The first few months just sort of pass me by.

I like your optimism. I agree, if the new manager 🤞 hits the ground running, with the right tweaks to the squad, who knows!

A few things are going to happen, we will appoint a new Head Coach, we will sign some new players and we will bring in a loan or 2. Chances are we'll sell a player or 2 also. I would expect the next 2 or 3 weeks to be very busy.

For me the summer is ok , bit of nice weather , watch the cricket but you can't beat the lead up to that first
football fixture. Who will we sign , how will we start ....I'm in my 70s and I'm wishing the days away until 30 July.

Looking forward to the fixtures and news of our pre-season games.

Hoping to be trundling to a couple of new grounds too 🤔

Honestly I can't possibly get excited about next season but I admire your optimism.

People are wetting the bed about Rosenior but personally I am doubting this will happen with no press release last week.

Even if it was Rosenior to me this would be a huge gamble considering how weakly we ended last season, we finished the season (last 10 games) in relagation form and there is no denying that and who do we really think would join us with such an in experienced manager?

Next season, because it is a more competitive league (more so than last season) I cannot see us out of the bottom 6 before the new year. Then it will be down to who would actually want to come and sign and SS money - really really hope I am wrong but I see dark times ahead.

I agree that after we achieved safety our form tailed off somewhat .

However with a world class training ground in the offing combined with an intelligent young manager and the ambition of this owner dark times are not happening .

That’s not to say there won’t be bumps in the road and some difficult weeks or months it’s a tough league but there is only one way this club is heading.

I'm generally optimistic & will remain so until either we struggle or my optimism is justified. I'll leave it up to the club to decide who we can recruit & get excited about it the day before the new season starts. I'm just the same with foreign holidays, when someone says I bet you're looking forward to that, months before, well no not really I usually get a twinge of excitement when we are actually flying. I do look forward to our camping trips especially when music & beer is involved.

Weirdly, I'm the same about holidays, I'll look forward to it but I don’t get excited if it's weeks away. Too much shite in between.

But if we get good signings it's exciting if they're good, as getting them on board is a feat in itself and means they're here.

It's like a jigsaw. At the moment the picture is very incomplete, but as the days go on so the pieces start to fit, bit by bit, and then you start to get more excited to see how the overall picture looks.

Then after time someone comes along and throws it on the floor and you never find some of the pieces again 😖

Am more worried than last year, as we'd got the corners down and separated all the straight-edged pieces, albeit a little later than we would have liked, owing to the playoffs extending the season.
Now it appears someone has nicked the box displaying the image of the finished puzzle and the dog's eaten the 1000th. piece.
Was always going to be concerned about "second season syndrome", even before the badge-thumping, disingenuous promiser of an exciting journey omitted to tell us he meant for him, not us.

Nowhere near being excited for the new season yet - there’s a summer of cricket first. The second season’s always harder than the first and I fear we’ll be nearer the bottom than the top. Need much more quality if we’re to survive again.
Can't believe people are giving a thumbs up for someone who has mentioned the most boring game in the world. Rather spend my summer in the Ukraine then watch cricket.

I am slightly apprehensive based on how we finished the last season. Bowler will be a big miss and will be difficult to replace, coupled with the rumour of Gabriel to Burnley!

As someone who struggles with SAD I just wish these long light nights would go on forever and so it depresses me a bit when the season starts as I know those are coming to an end. Do love those Tuesday night fixtures in August though driving home in the light.
