Glowing Tranmere fans write up

Some of the lines about us though did make me smile!

Next Saturday will be most fans last chance to see Rob Apter in a Rovers shirt. I hope that supporters will give a rousing farewell to the player who has literally saved our season. Next season without him will likely be very different.

The Rapter has transformed us. His contribution has been phenomenal transforming a drab team in to one that managed to climb the table away from relegation. His movement and use of the ball leaves opposition defenders befuddled. When he has a bad game the team also has a bad game. Players around him seem to thrive on his energy, Lee O'Connor in particular has had a partnership that has been gloriously productive. As for as Rovers are concerned Rob is built for deserved superlatives.

of course, he has shone in a team desperately short of talent. Blackpool must be some club if they can afford to let him go elsewhere and still be on the edge of the play offs to the Championship. If Blackpool go up there might be the faint possibility that he becomes surplus to requirements, but I doubt that would be the case. He is a player that could easily perform at that level, albeit he will be up against tougher defences.

It seems that we haven't ruled out the possibility of signing him on loan again next season. Personally I think that's just blowing bubbles. Even if Blackpool were to realease him there would be a host of clubs at our level keen to snap him up. Playing for Rovers seems unlikely. It's like when you look at the equaliser draw at half-time. You buy the ticket, but you know in your heart it's not you.

Next Saturday will be special. We will say goodbye to a player that has transformed our season. Let's be loud, let's roar him on and at full time show our appreciation to him for all he has contributed.

And you just know he's going to be sat on the bench behind CJ come the start of next season in a 5-3-2. Or he will be at Wrexham.

I don’t think any of us would have thought his loan at Tranmere was going to be this successful.
I get this is yet another stick to beat Crichley with but imo we owe Tranmere here for bringing him on leaps and bounds and giving him the platform and opportunity to show his talent.
Go back to a lot of the replies when he went and I think you’ll find lots of us knew it would be a success and a mistake to send him!

He wouldn't have played for us cos he's small and tricky like Dembele. We don't need two of those, that would be stupid.. 🤦🏻

He wouldn't have played for us cos he doesn't suit our system like wot CJ does . 🤦🏻

He wouldn't have played for us cos he's not a wing back. 🤦🏻

It doesn't matter how good he is, he wouldn't play for us. 🤦🏻

He needed a whole season loan so he could play really well. For someone else. 🤦🏻

Next season, loan him to a top half L2 or bottom half L1 team. He needs the experience and he'd only be on our bench. 🤦🏻

The season after that, loan him to a top half L1 or bottom half Championship team. Cos he'll be too good for us by then. 🤟

To loan him out would be pointless
Either bring him back and give him a run in the team or sell him on
I imagine it will be the latter with the newly promoted teams from league 2 at he front of the queue

U huge well done to Rob for having such an impact at Tranmere.
He's obviously possesses great resilience. For him to have gone on yet another loan, with such a positive, hard working attitude, is all credit to him. That asset will help him to succeed in football.
Rob & his agent will have a big say in what happens next, as a number of clubs will surely be interested in signing him. They'll have a number of things to consider:
Rob has earnt his place in first team football. So when he returns to Pool (remembering he is contracted to us), will NC assure him of selection as a regular first team player next season?
Has he got confidence in NC developing him further?
Would his career be enhanced by moving elsewhere?
Nigel Adkins has undoubtedly coached him into being a better player this season - will he want to stay with him, at his childhood club?
I hope NC says the right things to Rob & that results in him playing for us next season. It would be terrific to him him starting in our first 11 every week.

Tranmere are a bottom half league 2 club. I’ll be amazed if he wants to sign a long term deal there on above league 2 average wages.
Why would we sell him unless silly money was offered?

It will be an interesting situation to watch… lets see how it plays out…you would think Rob would be exactly the player we as a club would want… young player of the year a league below…. Scores and creates goals… what’s not to like.

He has been our best player in pre season friendlies in the last two seasons, why he went out on loan is beyond me.He is as good as at the club.

He has never played a League One game. There is no evidence to say that.
He's not played a full one yet but he put a corner straight on Ellis Simms' head on both of their first L1 appearances at Wigan. Had about 8 minutes on the pitch and got his name down as an assist.

For someone who has even part come through our youth set up I'd say he's done well to make it as far as loans up to EFL level and come back with a glowing report from wherever he's been. Usually it's 20 minutes as a sub at Bamber Bridge or Hyde United and nothing more mentioned about it until the name randomly pops up in a reserve game again.

The writing is already on the wall, as Critchley, master-coach and technical genius, took a look at him in January after his recall, and decided he would be better off in League Two. This, of course, was without offering him a single minute in League One. So the person who rates CJ highly clearly doesn't rate Apter that much. I suspect we will sell him for a paltry sum, compared to his worth, and we will miss out on a gem - an exciting player who can both deliver and light up the crowd. Meanwhile back at home base, we will continue to sign Critchley's recommendations, most of whom have turned out to be bang average, and continue to play 3-5-2, with players ill-suited to the system.

It's the club's development pathway, start them out in NPL, if that works out them move them up to NLN, the NL, then L2, in Apter's case you have to say that it has worked out spectacularly well.

Plus, there's a huge difference between pre-season friendlies and a competitive L1 campaign.

I think the loan has been the right thing for him, however he now will come back to us ? Mr Critchley has to consider what position does he play him in. What system must he change the team from 352 to accomodate him and potentially others. If this does not happen a number of supporters will not be happy.

If he doesn't get a chance with us next season, it is a joke. With Dembele heading out, I'd be tempted to play him in a similar role between the midfield and strikers. Or heaven forbid, change system and play to our strengths!
He will get a chance next season.
I think that’s pretty obvious.

Anyone would think we have let our star player randomly go out on loan.
Long term this has been a very good move for both player and club but of course some just want to see it as another Crichley fuck up.

Good luck to him if he wants to come back to the most stubborn, boring, charisma free, master-coach and technical genius 👀
Apart from that I think It'll be alright 👍

And I'm saying he'll be a better player for a season at Tranmere and will be playing for us next season with game time experience under his belt rather than a series of cameo appearances replacing Dembele after 75 minutes. That's the slot he's best suited to. Comparisons with CJ are completely irrelevant as they don't play in the same areas of the pitch.

I think he'll play next season. Or at least be given every chance to make himself an automatic choice. You can't ignore talent, and if he has a couple of games where he does well he'll get picked. He could well be the fairy dust on Critch's porridge.

Here’s a thought. Why don’t we develop him in OUR team. Maybe get the benefit of his goals and assists. Or is that too radical an idea or something?
Because they thought he wasn’t ready and wanted him to develop and gain confidence playing at a lower level?
Why did ‘Forest send Brennan Johnson to Lincoln? Why not just keep him and develop him themselves?

But when he was obviously doing well at Tranmere why not bring him back in January? Dembele is only 20 too and has probably played way too many games. Would have been useful, even off the bench surely?

There’s far more to a young players development than just playing games. This board makes things out to be so simplistic it’s ridiculous.
Apter was doing well at his hometown club surrounded by family and friends. Bringing him back to potentially only be a bit part player and take away that whole support network and the situation which was allowing him to flourish could have been disasterous.
If there’s a good thing happening and the players developing well you don’t get in the way of that. There’s considerations above and beyond the clubs immediate set of fixtures in the 23/24 season.

Look I don’t dispute for 1 second he could have come back in January and made some sort of impact to the 1st team. I just think the players overall development was being considered in all this and it was decided they shouldn’t disrupt the obvious progress he was making at Tranmere.
Dembele is a similar situation and he is able to develop a bit higher because his potential (as it stands right now) is slightly higher than Apters
Call it playing the long game if you like.

I’m glad he’s done well there. I’m even pleased he helped them avoid the dreaded relegation.
Just a shame Critchley will still be around to hinder his progress here.

Fair enough. But if you think he would have made a difference in January why not bring him back? Could have been the difference between making the play offs and not.
