I am a season ticket holder, and attend 99% of Saturday games (Xmas /new year excepted)

Midweek, I find, is a long hall, a hall I used to do when younger, but rarely do now due to age, roadworks, and time to bed, I'm often knackered the following day , as I am presently. A reason also why I no longer attend away games.

Yesterday, I decided to bite the bullet and support the team in their fight for another Wembley appearance, I use the word fight with consternation and frustration, only to be treated to 90 minutes of watching a team in the same division dismantle our team and quite honestly teach us how to play football.

Looking back, I should have stayed at home and spent £11 to watch it on SKY rather than treat myself to a seat in Block M at £17.

Yes, I will be there on Saturday for, no doubt , more punishment and till the end of the season, God willing, be in my seat in the South, but I am now seriously considering my options for next season.

During my 70 years of support, I've seen some great football, some unlucky results, seen some crap owners,, some crap football and been disappointed more times than I care to mention, but have kept on coming back for more, with the thought that this is a blip. However, I'm sorry to say this season is more than a blip, more of a disaster and it would appear that lessons have not been learned by those responsible for it.

As for me, the jury is out and I will decide during the summer break whether or not to give it one more shout.

Send that to Sadler - I am hearing more and more of our fans saying the same who are younger and live closer.
I still enjoy it to see mates I don't usually see pre-match, get some fresh air and out of the house but the lure of the football is increasingly taking a back seat.

I've been going nearly as long as you, travel nearly as far as you and I'm nearly as old as you.
I wasn't half as disappointed with the performance last night as I was with the Cheltenham match. At least Peterborough were a good team that made us look like a poor one.
But all that is just part of the hand you are dealt as a Blackpool fan. I've loved and loathed lots of managers and players over the years and I'm sure that won't change.
So I will be there on Saturday (and probably take in the u18 in the morning) because it's too late to stop being a glutton for punishment.

A very sad state of affairs. Under the tyrants we accepted garbage, because we knew that was all we were about to receive. So many of our current issues come down to recruitment and a total lack of imagination.
I would like to have felt angry last night, but that would have involved more effort than many involved put in. Miserable was the feeling I walked away with. Like you I will be back on Saturday, but out of loyalty not expectation.

That’s a really sad read Wilf, I’m really sorry age is creeping up on you, you don’t have to explain to anyone why you may not attend as a season ticket holder again, at least you can pick and choose games at your leisure when you can.

I don’t travel to home games any more, it’s too far for me, too time consuming and too expensive, I’m too old for that length of trip and don’t enjoy it. I will go to the odd away game near me but I often work at the weekend and that takes precedent.

We have all endured some terrible years at our club for the past 50 or so and I have to say the day in court when justice was finally done I had high hopes of a great new future ahead of us. Sadly it has stagnated very quickly and although we have an owner with good intentions that doesn’t make him a good owner. I think he made a mistake buying it and regrets it. It’s a difficult task and I don’t think he has what it takes, he is trying to do the right things but there are too many errors being continually made so he either has to step back completely and be a figurehead and get a proper football person to run the club. Personally I think he should be actively looking for buyers because he hates to be criticised yet he is now in a sport where he will gets plenty of it, plus he lacks the personality to pick a decent manager.

Anyway Wilf, I have always enjoyed your company in an away pub somewhere in the country and I hope we get the chance to do it again.

Hertford, I've made a lot of good friends and acquaintances over the years, and yes I count you as one surprisingly. 😜

As I said, I'm considering my options, and will do that until the fateful day comes that I have to choose. Today, I'm so disappointed with the 90 minutes of crap that was served up last night that the option would be to give up.

Basilexile said Misery leads to a nice single malt. In my case once home circa 11.45 it was a bottle of 1698 followed by a stiff Portuguese Brandy.

AA will be opening a branch at Bloomfield Road the way it is going.

Wilf I know how you feel.
Last night was the 1st time I've seen Pool this season.
I decided not to renew my ST this season,

That was a poor display and I think things should change a.s.a.p.
I can't single out one player as most of them were pretty poor.
Wholesale changes are needed, including the Manager.
I've supported the Pool for 79 years, first match during WW2. I've stood by them through thick and thin. I was at Wembley in 1953.
Let's just hope that SS makes the changes which we need.

Must admit that I have stopped the mid week games now.
The hassle of driving in rush hour travel and the long sad drive home in the dark.
It would be a mad dash( or leave early) for last train from Blackpool North and that involves a £20 taxi at the other end.
I gave it a final shot against Northampton after the win at Pompey. What a rotten drive home!

I will be there on Saturday though and really hope the black cloud lifts otherwise it is season over.

I was speaking to a guy and his dad that sit infront of me at the Oxford game and they're both seriously thinking about not renewing next season. Said they're struggling to justify spending hundreds of £ that they don't really have during a cost of living crisis, for something they don't really enjoy anymore. For every entertaining game, there's 3/4 boring ones. They could get a firestick and watch it at the dads with a few cans for 1 6th the cost. They've already stopped going to away games.

I will be there next season, hopefully my daughter will too although that's touch and go right now, but I can see season tickets dropping by decent margin at this rate.

I know the difficulties travelling over from Yorkshire, Wilf. It’s a trek, especially on the unreliable trains in this god forsaken country.

If I lived in Blackpool I’d still probably get a season ticket, out of blind loyalty. I’ve only been going 32 years (with a brief 7 year boycott!) but I can honestly say the football this year has been so boring, even the games we’ve won at home have I rarely felt I’ve got my monies worth.

Certainly won’t be renewing next season. If that makes me a “shit fan” then so be it

Ive also heard from people saying if critchley still here they won’t be renewing. Sadly I can see gates going from 10,000 to 5,000 because people pm dont wanna watch shit boring football with shit tactics and formation and no settled starting 11. People pay their hard earned money to watch entertaining games which unfortunately we ain’t getting only maybe one 45 minutes in six games or so.

Its in the blood, of course if physically possible you will get a new season ticket, there have been a lot worse times than this as you will have witnessed over your 70 years, its the love for the club that gets us or most of us back season after season that will never change

It’s not as simple as that for a lot anymore. A 5 year boycott and then covid have made it easy for a lot to walk away

No I understand that 100%, probably saying it from where my heart is at to be honest, i still think a large majority will be there next season but i could be wrong

Let's hope your "long hall" doesn't need decorating too often. Agree with sending this to SS as someone has mentioned but it's "long haul".

Living over 350 miles away I'm a firestick member although I planned this weekend's trip for Bolton a while ago. However, I won't be putting myself through the torture of watching a clueless manager put out a team of headless chickens either in the stadium or on any tv until major changes are in place. My tickets have been disposed of. A Mr Whippy and a good walk on the prom will do instead this Saturday.

No doubt Pool will put in the performance of the season and win 4-3 with 2 goals in the last minutes of injury time.

Good point Mosser ,during the boycott and covid I did find other things to do such as cycling and walking .
Must say on those ( too many) boring I have thought - I'd rather be walking the dogs etc .Even worse I found myself clock watching .
Yes if has been worse in the past - Colin Hendry days stick out for some reason.
Still 90% sure I will renew but he doubt is there

So you are going to make a 350 journey for an ice cream on the prom in February.??

Notriannis isn't open for a couple of months

I have family in the area and Notriannis isn't the only ice cream vendor in town. But between 2.30pm and 5pm I won't be occupying any seat watching clueless and his team.

I am currently only serving a 52 sentence and don't live anywhere near as far as you but with a couple of health issues, I am seriously considering my next season ticket.

I may just go with only the VPN and season pass on T/TV as I have had both since post-boycott because away days are almost impossible bar the very local ones now.

Unless there is a re-think by Critchey or he departs then next season will be assessed on a match-to-match basis if he is still with his current mindset as it feels like a chore now and it's just so boring.

Great thread this Wilf, Sadler. needs to take this all on board, the people writing on here aren't brainless idiots they are very long time supporters who have seen it all and for them to be feeling this after such a short time in his stewardship he needs to be listening and he has to realise it's not just Critchley and the Thompson twins, it's also how he has handled things. Can he face his critics, realise they are also his customers and take this heartfelt critique and do something about it?

Ive found myself losing interest after last season and what weve been served so far this season, not just watching Blackpool but all football in general

Last season was awful, and Critchleys dull, turgid, ineffective style this season is enough to make me think i cant really be arsed, i only go to the home games now because ive already paid for for it, not sure if il do it again next season if hes still here.

'Black cloud'? Is that how you refer to Critchley these days? If so, all I would say is that you're being very diplomatic!

It’s alright for you, I don’t drink. So the misery of watching us fail leads to the utter misery of sobriety.🤣🤣🤣
As a possible means of support to others, maybe you could voluntarily attend the Bloomfield Road branch of AA, which I see a certain high-profile supporter has proposed should be launched?

How about it, AR? Cometh the hour cometh the man, n' all that ...

If it was thought I could be useful, it may be worth considering. However, I would have thought support for recoverers from any addiction would be better administered by someone who has been on the same journey and knows the temptations and pitfalls that need to be avoided.

There’s a lot riding on whether ST holders will renew for next season or not. As Mosser has pointed out above, the boycott years and Covid has taken its toll on a lot of fans as we were so used to doing alternative things on a match day, consequently blind loyalty may be a thing of the past for some especially in the middle of a cost of living crisis. I know quite a few fans who are sick to the back teeth of the inconsistent performances and the non performances away from home, it’s that glaringly obvious that the formation and set up of the team is at the core of the problem with many players under performing and some looking a mere shadow of themselves. Time is running out this season and if this shambles continues then SS could be in for a nasty surprise come ST renewal date as l can see several thousand not bothering and who may pick and choose home games to attend that said, we could still have a hard core of 5k-6k fans renewing.

No i get fully what you are saying and respect your view, personally i still think we will have a good number of season ticket holders next year, i could be wrong only time will tell, lets hope I'm not wrong.
But if they don't renew and the team are doing well they will all coming flooding back saying how well the club is doing and getting on the bandwagon that's how fickle football fans are not just ours but all clubs fans nationwide. Only my opinion

In your youth you will have signed up to a middle-ish 1st division team. But, once it's your team, it's your team. No amount of ups and downs has turned you into a plastic so, well done.
You know more than most that Blackpool aren't going to give you highs every season. But that's not why you stay with it. You're tangerine, just like the rest of us. Keep going while you can dear boy. It's in your blood.

I don’t have a season ticket as I live in a different country but I’ve spent a bit of time in the UK over the course of the season so still managed 10 homes and four aways.

I honestly really enjoyed the home games, I’ve seen some great performances and good games. The most entertaining games I saw we actually lost vs Forest and Peterborough in the league. The social side is massive for me too, great to spend time with my old man and mates I’ve known for years.

The away record is where our season has failed (thus far) and I saw us score once in four games with the only good moment being that Rhodes equaliser vs Oxford. I thought twice about parting with a tenner for the Peterborough away game but I’m glad I did and I’m looking forward to the games on Saturday and Tuesday.

It’s a big commitment to go to games when you live a couple of hours away, especially midweek. I always had a season ticket when I lived in Blackpool and Manchester pre boycott. I didn’t get one post boycott because I was in Leeds then London and it didn’t make sense.

I’ll be getting my first TTV season pass next year as I won’t be in the UK as often and I’m on course to do £200+ in tenners this season anyway. I feel like it’s important that it remains part of my routine, I don’t want to spend my Saturday afternoons being dragged around the Swedish version of B&Q!

Do you know I stopped being a ST holder after the Oyston era and can tell you it is so much more enjoyable when you feel you ‘don’t have to go’ because you’be bought a ticket!
