Goal of the season candidate?

I thought our opening goal last night was absolutely fantastic. If you get a chance watch the full build up. The limited highlights don't do it justice, but the extended highlights (when available) should hopefully show it all. The way we worked the ball out of defence and then upfield was class. Not sure how many passes and how many players involved, but it was a lot. It has to be a goal of the season contender for the build up alone...

Didn't Rhodes start it near our own goal line and then magically popped up at the far stick to nod it back for Lavery?

Cracking goal, but our style of play means Grimshaw will end up being involved in 95% of our goals. Even most of our corners end up back with our keeper before the slow tedious build up from the back.
 
I'd vote for the Lavery goal above Dembele, just, I think. Best goals perhaps of the season so far in no particular order...

Lavery v Cheltenham
Dembele v Cheltenham
CJ v Stevenage
Dembele v Charlton
Dougall v Derby
 
4 different scorers and no Rhodes. Those 4 all capable of contributing decent numbers of goals. Dembele's two finishes suggest there will be more from him, both quality. Kouassi will chip in too.

Others need to start registering. Morgan Weir Carey Lyons Dale. Only one between those 5 so far. League goals last season...

Lyons 4 Championship, 6 League of Ireland, 1 Europa League v Ferencvaros

Critch needs to get these guys firing.
 
I've just watched the goal again on TTV. The move started with CJ back picking up an overhit cross by Cheltenham in our own corner. Looks like 8 passes/headers and 6 different players involved in the move, CJ and Rhodes were involved twice....

It's a great goal with some excellent passes, Rhodes down the line and CJ to Thommo, and Thommo doing a vaguely Cruyff turn. More a heavy touch rescued with a swivel. Let's just call it a Thompson turn. Followed by a good cross to Rhodes.
