Goals conceded outside the box

Again. Egg plant way too deep. No protection on the edge of the box. Like Groundhog Day. I’d love to see the stat for goals from outside the box.

I thought Grimshaw should’ve done a lot better!!

He looks like he’s in a low crouching position when it’s hit and it goes over him!!🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Grimmy has to start taking some blame. 23 goals conceded now. 8 of the teams in the bottom half of the table have conceded less and apart from Reading 25 is the most conceded. He's shipping far too many 3s and 4s.

He’s also too slow at releasing the ball. It was painful today. There were a couple of times today he could have thrown it immediately and started an attack but he held it too long and then their players had regrouped. They need to concentrate on this as part of training.

I've managed to find that as a percentage of total goals conceded we've got the 5th highest in the division from outside of the box.

That's not wholly useful cos if we'd conceded 1 goal in total and it was from outside the box we'd be top of that table...

I can't find it in simple terms - i.e. just a raw figure for goals conceded from outside the box in a table.

All I can confidently say is we concede quite a high proportion of goals that way, so your impression is not inaccurate.

3 goalies would not have stopped that going in

It‘s a great strike — we lost the ball (mucking about) there was no way defensively e had time to recover

it’s Goals galore or goal drought with us

Footie is sooo frustrating when u don’t win — we start again

We were stood right in line with the goal and my first thoughts were that his view of the ball was partially blocked. It went like a rocked thought. Good goal.

Like the ones vs Fleetwood. Both good strikes but having time and space to shoot is the problem IMO
Yep seldom score “worldy” goals in league one if you have a player in their faces. The passivity of the Critchley game plan encourages dropping back. Goals like these are going in in every other week it seems.

Grimmy cannot be blamed for that at all
It was without doubt a spectacular strike and if it was us we would be waxing lyrical about it.
If it was in the Premiership it would be a contender for goal of the month or even season.

1966 has it right. It's not Grammy's fault not Marvins for being deep. It's losing the ball in your own third that is the issue as it leaves everyone on the back foot and scrambling to get back into shape. Credit to the murderers for moving it quickly and getting the shit away.

I don't know what all the criticism is really we were beaten by a wonder strike. You can judge a game to some extent by how quickly it seems to go & certainly the first half flew by. Second not quite as quickly I thought a draw would have been about fair.
