Would a taller keeper have saved both ? Incidentally I thought Maxwell made at least 1 exception save .Thoughts ?
I think with a different keeper we could as well seal relegation, think chris is a huge presence for us in the battle for survivalWould a taller keeper have saved both ? Incidentally I thought Maxwell made at least 1 exception save .Thoughts ?

It's a battle we will find hard to win unless we sign better players.I think with a different keeper we could as well seal relegation, think chris is a huge presence for us in the battle for survival

Nope.Would a taller keeper have saved both ? Incidentally I thought Maxwell made at least 1 exception save .Thoughts ?
Are we the 'shortest' team in the Championship? All the teams (maybe not Coventry) we've played appeared to be taller and physically stronger than us, hence the number of headed goals we're conceding. It's the 4 in front of him who aren't doing their job and it doesn't help having a small midfield.
It’s a tough one isn’t it, personally I don’t want to be a team of set pieces and land of the giants. But we do need to be able to mix it up at times. Are we the 'shortest' team in the Championship? All the teams (maybe not Coventry) we've played appeared to be taller and physically stronger than us, hence the number of headed goals we're conceding.
We could well be.Are we the 'shortest' team in the Championship? All the teams (maybe not Coventry) we've played appeared to be taller and physically stronger than us, hence the number of headed goals we're conceding.
Agreed, but a case could be made to replace 4 or 5 others. One I wouldnt be replacing is Maxwell
DefinitelyAgreed, but a case could be made to replace 4 or 5 others.
I disagree, we have the height and ability to cope, we’re still learning there’s a big gap from L1.The lack of height throughout the team is finding us out in the Championship. It might be nice to watch, this playing pretty football on the deck, but all the opposition have to do is launch long balls into our box where they win either the first or second headers!
I think you will find the majority of goals we have conceded have resulted from high balls into the box, which we have failed to defend!I disagree, we have the height and ability to cope, we’re still learning there’s a big gap from L1.
Reasonable question. No, two good goals.Would a taller keeper have saved both ? Incidentally I thought Maxwell made at least 1 exception save .Thoughts ?
Fair point but today Maxy was good - no chance with the goals, and Ekpiteta was brill - in the air and on the ground.I think you will find the majority of goals we have conceded have resulted from high balls into the box, which we have failed to defend!
We coped all game until we switched off at the vital moment. The lack of height throughout the team is finding us out in the Championship. It might be nice to watch, this playing pretty football on the deck, but all the opposition have to do is launch long balls into our box where they win either the first or second headers!
We could do with offloading 4 or 5 shit fans too.Agreed, but a case could be made to replace 4 or 5 others.
For me, it's defending from source. We wouldn't concede as many goals from headers if we were better at blocking crosses.I think you will find the majority of goals we have conceded have resulted from high balls into the box, which we have failed to defend!
Height, muscle and decent skill costs big money. Who's going to pay the big money needed for those type of players to come to Blackpool? Simon Sadler is a millionaire, not a billionaire. Are we the 'shortest' team in the Championship? All the teams (maybe not Coventry) we've played appeared to be taller and physically stronger than us, hence the number of headed goals we're conceding.
Actually laughed out loud at this!We could do with offloading 4 or 5 shit fans too.
You mean WalesNothing he could do about the free kick, the header, he has saved those dozens of times previously and that's why we stick with him and move on. For me he's earned that with the sheer volume of times he's saved us. If he was 100% perfect he'd be playing for England and Man City.
If your trying to push out to catch them offside then there’s no need to win a header, which seems to be the case with the Millwall winner, which looked like four of them were offside. Something you have no control over if the Lino can’t see it, or doesn’t want to. But with regards to having the height to deal with the players at this level, Marv is tall enough as is Keogh as is Casey.I think you will find the majority of goals we have conceded have resulted from high balls into the box, which we have failed to defend!
Wiz I agree, you can’t trust the officials I’m afraid, they seem even more incompetent than in L1. I’ve just watched the highlights back and there might even be 5 offside, it’s time the CBs started dealing with the ball into the box instead of relying on the officials to do their job correctly. It's all well and good playing a high line for offside, but when it's not given, you're stuffed. Practically every game this season we've conceded what appears to be an offside goal. It's killing us. I'm thinking the officials aren't going to change so we need to defend more proactively rather than rely on others. Make it something we can control, take a man each and stop them scoring.
Not necessarily Gaz, we've bought good players in the past without spending a fortune (there's an endless list but Gorkes, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Southern etc spring to mind). Our scouting team appear to be concentrating on young players that cost nothing or not a lot & that strategy may not be enough to keep us in a very physically demanding, very tough Championship. Bue we'll see.Height, muscle and decent skill costs big money. Who's going to pay the big money needed for those type of players to come to Blackpool? Simon Sadler is a millionaire, not a billionaire.
They played well yesterday. They don't deserve that criticism at the moment. The defence is a total shambles which isn t Maxwells fault we have a good centre half playing at right back
an ageing centre half in Keogh and our defensive midfielders have been absent no wonder we are shipping goals
Good point. I sense that Sadler's policy is to use Critchley's skills in coaching youngsters to bring them on until they can realise a good transfer fee. It's a reasonable approach. However, it can cut across our ability to hold our own in a physically hard league. Not necessarily Gaz, we've bought good players in the past without spending a fortune (there's an endless list but Gorkes, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Southern etc spring to mind). We don't have the height, though I do agree on principle. It's all well and good playing a high line for offside, but when it's not given, you're stuffed. Practically every game this season we've conceded what appears to be an offside goal. It's killing us. You could probably find a save Kaspar Schmeichel didn’t reach which his dad would have tipped over, but then you could find examples where a smaller keeper moves quicker and saves another. I agree with the prevailing view here that Maxwell is an excellent keeper and I also think he Marshalls the team well. Also great energy, keeps the team “up”. Perhaps fair to say with a smaller keeper you need a defence who “own” their area; we certainly didn’t first few games, but I’ve been on holiday since Ekpiteta came back and it sounds like that had improved slightly?Would a taller keeper have saved both ? Incidentally I thought Maxwell made at least 1 exception save .Thoughts ?
