Still playing for the development team but free agent and without a contract... Who pays his wages as a free agent? Odd one..

As I presumed.... Must be holding on in the hope of getting contact with us once proved free of injury. Tbf was decent for us before his injury in my opinion.

You would think a league one club would snap him up but maybe he’s not keen on the drop down after already doing that once when he came to us and being promoted again. Probably feels like he deserves a chance in the Champ.

Or simply trying to regain and prove fitness so that another club might be interested in him, who knows, maybe Fleetwood might've seen enough in him today to make him an offer.

Really seemed to be coming into his stride before being injured. Would have put him ahead of Virtue who we offered a contract to in similar circumstance. I really hope the lad sorts himself out with a decent contract.

If we’re 100% not thinking of signing him that’s a good point. Maybe the door isn’t entirely closed? Maybe if one or two more limp off we’ll still take him up.

Maybe the club feels an obligation to him as an ex-player, they want to give him every opportunity to get his career back on track, even if it is ultimately elsewhere, good for the other players' morale etc.

This would also be a decent gesture to the agent / agency involved with this player too - thus maybe helping the clubs cause down the line. Also good to have decent players and decent people in and around the club in any capacity. There’s a lot more to offer than just the 90 minutes on a match day.

Seems to be a trend for clubs to have an older player around who helps their youth/development squads on the field, ie Jay Spearing playing for Liverpool reserves/under-23s. Perhaps that’s what Grant Ward is doing for us now while he works on getting a contract somewhere.
