Green List

I can't work out what the criteria is for the green list of countries. New cases in the UK yesterday is 36,000+ with a seven day average of 33,000+, new cases in Poland yesterday was 94 with a seven day average of 79 yet they do not make the green list. Strange.

I think we should be put on the red list. 😂

The only reason I can think of is administrative, Poland is imposing 14 days quarantine on us (double jabbed exempt), so it matters little either way if they are on green or amber lists and thus the JBC haven't bothered to include them in the review.

Bulgaria and Croatia have moved onto the green list but they allow travel based on negative tests, or proof of prior infection, thus some people who could go there would be caught up in quarantine on their return.

Personally I think the whole list system serves no purpose at this time, with infection levels at their current rate we could safely suspend it including hotel quarantine for red list countries, unless there are particular VoC's we need to be worried about.

The Balearics going onto Amber list just as the schools break up. What a coincidence

The JBC data is up on the website: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/data-informing-international-travel-risk-assessments

Case numbers up from 20/100k to 147/100k over the past 3 weeks, reported test numbers up 10 fold and test positivity up 7 fold.

Apart from the question about what's the point of a green and amber list when we have 3 times the daily infection rate domestically, if we're going to have the system the data appears to leave no other choice.

In other news, it looks like France might be going on to the red list over the SA variant: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...s-putting-france-red-list-beta-variant-fears/
