Grimshaw rumours?

April and the last game in May was relegation form. The two games we won was against bottom of the league Barnsley and a very poor Birmingham who would of been relegated if it wasn't for points deduction's.
If you look at those games we did fine in them other than Peterborough, with a very makeshift side, and we were already safe but out of the play off picture, after a very tough physical and mental season. It'll be different when we are playing for points that really matter again. And we drew away to promotion chasing Rovers and Luton, and lost to a last gasp goal at WBA. The start of next season is a new start, all to play for.

We had a teams worth of players missing and players just back from injuries having played no football in midfield, plus the team hadn't played together.

Can't judge anything of that game.

He's talking about April as well.

We were right in the other games.

Just like when we went on runs of wins, or losses, fine margins.

Against Derby we missed a pen and Madine failed to get onto cjs Cross from a few yards out for simple goal.

We should have beat West brom.

We battered Birmingham, beat Barnsley.

Not worried.

It’s no great surprises making initial silly first offers everyone does it.

I bet we’ve enquired about the Hull lad Ingram for a much lower figure.

It’s football.

If Stoke want him that much they’ll be back with a much improved offer.

Yeah it is, but KOKO would be snapping their hands off right now and currently have Grimshaw in cufflinks in his boot en route to the BET365.

Yeah exactly, pretty sure that’s exactly what happened with Brannagan in January.

Potentially some good news, progress being made in talks with Grimshaw over a new deal. Still nothing agreed yet but seem to be getting closer.
Now that would be good news.

He should get a full season under his belt with us and we can give him some reassurances that we won’t stand in his way of a good offer comes in from further up the pyramid. Win win.

We’re a better side when he plays.

Keep us informed. Always interesting stuff.
Do you happen to know if Alec McLachlan has been offered a contract.
Not much news coming out of the Academy since Will Squires announcement.
I'm led to believe there will be at least one more??

Alec wasn’t offered a deal and last I heard was planning on heading to the US for University.

I believe there is one more to be announced too, no idea what the delay is but I don’t want to steal their moment!

Also been quite a bit of change in the youth staff in the last few weeks. Danny Ventre, Ben McInerney and Owen Williams all been let go. Williams was actually first team analyst.

Club not happy with their performance? I was under the impression the youth set up was going. Great guns?

I'm sure I know who it is but I'll not speculate on here.

I wasn't aware of the staff changes so thank you for sharing that information. I'm not sure why the Club is reluctant to share some of this stuff. It's a bit of a pet moan of mine.

If that happens it would be superb news. He's an excellent keeper who will almost certainly play in the Prem one day imo. Part of the reason why I think we'll be competitive again next season is our willingness to dish out new deals to our best players way before they're due to expire. It creates stability, and also ensures some hefty income if/when they do leave. It's long term planning that up until 2019 was totally absent from Bloomfield Rd.

Grimmy isn't even one year into a three year deal, and we're discussing an improved contract with him, because we've recognised what an asset he could be. A world away from what we've been used to.

Grimshaw was good when he came in and is an accomplished shot stopper but I still think he is a bit small. Also as mentioned he doesn’t come for crosses which often leaves him stuck on his line when chances come.

He’s good and I would like to keep him but it’s not the end of the world if he went.
Is it not the case that our keepers are coached by Steve Banks who never came off his line. Coincidence that our keepers don't do it?

Like Grimshaw and Maxwell I don't think Banks was particularly tall, I would think a 6 ft goalkeeper is less inclined to come and take crosses than one who is 6 ft 5.
Having said that in the league 1 promotion season Maxwell seemed to come out for every cross, and usually got away with it, wouldn't be a good idea in the Championship.

He reacts too slow and concedes too many poor goals. Doesn't deal with crosses and flaps too much. I don't remember him making any outstanding saves this season either and that's what wins games. A good keepers more important than a good striker in my opinion.
Then your memory is bollocks!!
