Grimshaw

Grimshaw got booked for time wasting whilst waiting for a substitution to be made. The same thing happened on wednesday as well.
How can u be booked for time wasting when there is a substitution being made.
I am not sure but I think he could have been booked both times for moving the forward repeatedly for free-kicks despite being told by the refs not to.

Grimshaw is his own worst enemy. He gave the ref plenty of cause to get pissed off. The booking was coming. He needs a talking to.
Seems a good shot stopper.Distribution not as good as Maxwells.Overall doing a decent job so far and made a few very good saves.
Distribution not as good as Moore either

I think Moore is a better all round keeper which he should be given he’s a few years older than Grimshaw. Suppose it’s a development thing.

I thought the same thing and wondered why Critchley hadn’t commented on it and said an appeal was in the post.

Can I ask, on what basis do you think that Moore is a better all round keeper? Surely we've only seem a pretty short cameo towards the end of a game...He's 27 years old and has very few competitive games under his belt really. I'm not being critical, by the way, but I'm struggling to see how it's possible to reach that conclusion.

I think he was booked on Wed for persistently moving the ball forward ready to restart after the substitution. The ref made him move the ball back a few times and he kept taking it forward again.

How do you come to that conclusion? Moore has played once from the start (Brizzle R) and his work with his feet was sketchy at best.

He's a shot stopper. Agile and alert but he was really struggling with the pass back to him in that game.

What I saw in pre season was similar. (I think he played first half against Southport irc)

Grimshaw is accurate, he's just not able to play at same pace as Maxwell yet. If you took the opposition away, his kicking is excellent. It's the pace of thought that isn't at Maxwell levels, but given as he's only played 4 games in his career, it won't be.

That's my impression, based on a limited sample size.

The official reason for Wednesday booking was time wasting.

Yes, fair points but from what I saw against Blackburn Moore's distance kicking was pretty good.

Interesting choice by Critch. Moore would have been the obvious selection but he went for Grimshaw. Maybe the thinking is let's give him a run of games to show how he fares if he struggles then put Moore in. IMO, Grimshaw looks the best of all three with the ball at his feet.

Critch wants a footballer who can play in goal.

To all intents and purposes Critch uses the keeper as an outfield player and expects him to make a save if our 'defend from the front' philosophy fails and the opposition actually get a shot on target.

Agree, the time wasting booking for Grimshaw was always going to happen and is pointless. What if with ten minutes to go he commits another foul which can happen anytime and we've used all our subs.
There were six minutes extra which probably included a couple for time wasting anyway.

Grimshaw's distribution was much better than against Forest.

+1 for this.

I thought he looked far more confident with the ball at his feet vs the nobbers, and we played the ball around at the back well. There were a couple of occasions their attack was drawn in and he'd then loft a pinpoint ball over to Gabriel who'd then have space to run into.

I'd actually argue that's not something I've seen us implement that successfully until Saturday - granted, their press wasn't up to much.

He has no left kicking foot (yet) There was a moment in the 1st half (about 15 mins) when Keogh was under pressure but took the time to pass it back to Grimshaw's right foot. It is little moments like that which demonstrate the quality the squad and management are on the training ground.

While his kicking and passing was better, his throws have no zip to them.

Grimshaw was brought up at Man City and that's clear to see from the ball at his feet. Moore is a good keeper but Grimshaw was brought in to the number 2 and challenge Maxwell. Now Maxi is out, only fair he gets chance to show what he can do. Another excellent call by Critch in my opinion.
