I’m only at a guess that Stevie G has got spooked by the money being flashed around by Villa, and wanted some familiar faces around him, when things get heavy you want your mates around you?

The Villa goalie has spoken about how Beale, the outgoing coach, was more of a manager than coach and did more of the speaking than Gerrard. Stating that his replacement will have more than a coaching job on his hands.

Does sound like it’s Gerrard needing a comfort blanket in many ways,
