Hancock must go

It does beg the question on what a cabinet minister has to do to get sacked. Its got to the point where I can't think of anything that Boris won't say 'The matter is now closed' to.

Absolutely the right thing. I’m not going to judge his infidelity, but his shocking hypocrisy in breaking the covid rules that he delivered made his position untenable in my opinion 👍
Numpty.

Yet another big March in London today, virtually all breaking the rules, if any have jobs they should be sacked, thse not fined. We cant have one rule for one and not everybody, or so we are told by the media and by our own political experts on this board.

Great, so now we have a novice in the job trying to work out how to use the phones in the middle of a f***ing pandemic.

This can only end well........................

I think the questions of how his 'aide' was appointed also made his position untenable.
Also how NHS contracts were awarded to a firm of which her brother is a top executive. Corruption or bribery or pure coincidence? On top of all the other dodgy contracts he’s handed out.
I also happen to think his infidelity does matter as surely it is a matter for national security.
You can just imagine how all this would be going down if it was happening in Russia or Zimbabwe for example

Perhaps you’d like to give us a resume of Hancock’s qualifications for the job.
The same Matt Hancock who oversaw the unnecessary death of thousands of care home residents and dished out NHS contracts to his mates and family Willy Nilly.
I cannot imagine anyone can do a worse job personally

2 years experience as Secretary of State at the DHSC.

Debunked.

You must have very little imagination then.

Hardly in the middle, it's practically over which is a great time for someone new to come in, remove the restrictions and become a hero in the process. I bet Gove has got his eye on it for that reason the slimy little weasel.

Just imagine how much worse it would be with a Labour Politburo Guv💩
Utterly irrelevant. We haven't and the Tories have made a shambles of it all on their own.

Speculation on alternative Governments has literally no value other than to distract from the real cause of hundreds of thousands dying from this virus, a decade and more of systematic stripping of the public health service and no plan to deal with foreseeable disasters.

Just waiting for backstabber Ashworth to say it’s the Starmer doorstep reaction as to why we lost this election 😜

Now he has resigned do the defenders want to reconsider their position on his aptitude for the job?

It’s also untrue that the allegations of cronyism have been “debunked” - although Lost keeps repeating the claim.
Hancock actually shown to have breached ministerial code - that is a fact
The government also broke the law in not revealing full details of covid contracts issued for health related matters - Hancock's department - fact.
It hardly adds up to a clean slate as Lost would have it.

It’s a bit like his continual assertion that Johnson isn’t responsible for the Indian/Delta variant getting into the U.K. No matter how many funky graphs he puts up, it’s clear to everyone that India should have been put on the Red list far sooner. The only reason it wasn’t was because of the pending trade trip. That’s why the Indian variant is now known as the Johnson variant.

It should also be noted that the affair with Gina Condangelo also raises many questions about Hancock's conduct that are in the public interest.
Some of the relevant facts are as follows;
  • Condangelo and Hancock were old acquaintances from university
  • Hancock was involved in her recruitment and appointment to her position at DoH
  • She accompanied Hancock on official visits including the G7 conference for Health ministers
  • Condangelo was a member of the panel that Hancock reported to.
  • Condangelo's brother is a director of a company that has been awarded £28m in Covid related contracts from the DoH

A few relevant questions;
  • When did the affair start - was it before her appointment?
  • If so, was the conflict of interest declared?
  • Was the conflict of interest declared to the DoH regarding her supervisory role over Hancock?
  • If not, why not?
  • Why did she accompany Hancock on official business, was this absolutely necessary?
  • What lobbying took place to secure Covid contract to her brother's company?

The whole thing stinks to high heaven and this is quite apart from all of the other previous mistakes, lies and cronysim that Hancock has been involved in. His resignation speech was really another opportunity (hopefully his last) to remind us of how Hancock is the hero of the hour and has lead us heroically through the pandemic.
The thing that is almost as shocking is that Hancock's narcissism is so great that he genuinely believes that he has done nothing wrong either privately or professionally - just like David Cameron and Greensill. And as Lytham mentions, he has only really apologised for being caught. On top of all of this, his friends are briefing the press with the remarkably crass line that he is now living with Condangelo and it is a 'love match'. Can you imagine what the six children and two spouses involved are actually feeling about this right now. Hancock should crawl under a rock and never be seen in public life again. I hope he gets deselected in his constituency, he has been a remarkably poor minister whose main talents are a brass neck and the ability to tell lies convincingly. Fuck off Hancock and never show your face in public again.

Hancock (and his wife) and Condangelo have been friends since university.

Condangelo has now experience in health services or health policy. Her specialism is PR. Hancock appointed her through his own volition - reportedly the appointment was considered very unusual at the time by senior civil servants. The appointment was not reported publically and only became public knowledge in November last year when the Times reported on (based on Condangelo's Linkedin profile !).

The reasons, and process, for her appointment cetainly asks some questions regarding cronyism.

More rule breaking from Hancock has come to light, and once again it is potentially illegal. This time it seems that Matty boy has been using a personal email account to discuss and allocate Covid contracts. More cronyism and completely against the rules which are very clear.

It started with a kiss
Never thought it would come to this
Must of liked his Chocolate hot
The Cummings and goings of political life never cease to amaze me, I never thought he had it in him, he was more gray than John Major
