Happy Birthday, Boris

We await a full report from Sue Gray as to whether it is actually my birthday and whether staff got together last year to celebrate it without my knowledge, even though I was there eating cake and having a drink as part of my work routine.

It's hardcore partying though, even a national lockdown they imposed themselves won't stop them from bashing it up, even at the country's most famous address with police literally outside the front door.

The dedication is almost to be admired really...

It's almost like they think they are above the law, and that the rules they make don't actually apply to them, like they're entitled or somesuch.

Carrie organised it as a surprise.

Boris turned up expecting just him and his bubble, he was as shocked as anyone it was happening, didn't wish to appear rude, stayed to say thank you and left.

Nothing to see here.

Anyone who was at that party needs to go because they were equally as responsible for not vetoing the party.
Indeed, I'd say anyone who voted for this idiot needs to have their voting rights taken away as well, it's not like they weren't warned and it just shows a spectacular lack of judgement on their behalf.

Do you think that the law of the land should apply to everyone including the PM?

That is the principle at stake, the details are trivial

Its brilliant reading all these posts because I can guarantee that some, if not all had gatherings throughout lockdown.

What's the saying?

Let he who hath not sinned cast the first stone !
Apart from Recidivist, he/she is obviously as pure as the driven snow🤦‍♂️

I didn't.

Then again I didn't vote for this lot either as my judgement and morals have always been top notch.

Except that she saw nothing wrong in arranging the do. The guests saw nothing wrong in attending it and nobody appeared to give a monkeys that this would reflect badly on the birthday boy who was on TV nightly, telling Britain to obey the rules.
Or, as you say, so what?

I can guarantee that I did nothing of the sort. Clearly you did.

I had to work during lockdown and anyone had a birthday, there were cakes at the end of the day and of course a rendition of happy birthday. We all made sure we were socially distant and had masks on apa from when eating of course. I’m quite sure this would have happened in many work places.

As for the other parties in question, there is no defence and he should resign.

No you can’t absolutely guarantee that as most of us abided by the rules imposed by Johnson and which he did not follow not just on this occasion but on many others.
Lets not forget that just before all these parties started he was professing to be lying in an ICU bed near deaths door with the virus, therefore knowing first hand how awful it could be, yet not once making it clear that a these parties people kept having under his nose without his knowledge were a really bad idea and must stop as it was really dangerous to their health.
Lets also not forget that on the 29 April 2020 Carrie gave birth to their son. Right in the middle of all these parties. How many people would have taken that risk with a newborn child in the house or just before giving birth.

I'm sure lots of people bent the rules, but that' not the issue here. He's a privileged oaf who thinks he can ride roughshod & act the clown & some people buy into his showmanship. As a rule maker you have to adhere to the rules yourself (to the letter) He's been caught out & has been trying to lie his way out of it. Totally unsuitable PM. He has to go. It wouldn't surprise me if this Sue Grey was swilling the vino with them too.

Agree but two wrongs don't make a right.

Ah, but Jeremy would have ruined the country if he and Labour had got in so people had to vote for the fat, lying, cheating, rule-breaking and dishing out money to his chums Johnson to save the country.

I see that the Met are now going to investigate the parties on Boris’s behalf. No doubt he’ll get cleared but two women will get raped in the process

I wouldn’t mind betti that Sue Grays report will now be held up due to the police investigation. Good news for Boris, at least in the short term.

It might not be enough to save him.
The birthday party was against the law at the time and Downing Street are not disputing the details. That means that the PM broke the law, surely there has to be some consequence of this action. It also makes Sue Gray's report less relevant. You have to remember that he stood at the dispatch box a few months ago and said that 'there were no parties'. This morphed into, 'I didn't know about them', which then became 'I thought that they were work events' (btw who takes their wife and baby to a work meeting) then 'I wasn't aware I was breaking the rules' and now we have 'I only broke the law a little bit'. With liars like Johnson the truth has to be dragged out of him bit by bit. Surely this is too much for even the most career minded of MPs.

To add, that if he survives after Sue Gray reports, the next revelation will be about Carrie hosting a party in Johnson's flat. This rumour is already in the public domain but currently denied by Downing Street, I wouldn't be surprised to see material evidence of this event being leaked next week. This is going to be very interesting, in his head Johnson doesn't think that he has done anything wrong. He may well implode in public and I am sure he will be trying to portray himself as a victim of circumstance.

So the report from Sue Gray is delayed as 'serious and flagrant breaches' have been reported by the investigation team warranting police investigation.

Short term respite for Johnson, but surely a longer term death knell.

Edit: Police officers outside No10 being questioned as to what they saw. How the fuck did suitcases of booze get wheeled in for starters? Not much baggage checking going on there, or at the very least, a blind eye turned. If you go into any Government building in London they do a bag search. They even do that at the National Gallery, never mind Downing St. What's the point of a massive security gate and police barriers if you can stroll through with suitcases unchallenged?

25th January 2025

Boris Johnson, who's now been Prime Minister for nearly 6 years declined to comment on news that the United Federation of Planets had been called in to investigate alleged breaches of the COVID regulations.

This follows investigations by the Metropolitan Police, Sue Gray, the MCC, UEFA, the Lawn Tennis Association, NATO and the United Nations.

Lie detector test perhaps, you'd probably wear it out though.

It’s looking like Cressida Dick is a lickspittle to Priti Patel and the Met are serfs to this Govt. She only just held onto her job last year as many wanted to get rid, I wonder what the price of that was? Though she owes her DBE to Theresa May.

I suspect the police investigation will delay everything, including the Gray report release, by at least a month to help Bozo take the heat out of the situation but finally the police will say that although there was wrongdoing by “persons unknown” there is “insufficient evidence” to accuse individuals of any crime with a prospect of conviction since “it was all a long time ago”. The police have used that exact excuse several times already. Or there will be a few minor advisors culled as sacrificial lambs as Operation “Save Big Dog” has proposed.

The Gray report will then have been seen to have been superseded by the more rigorous police investigation and can be shelved as superfluous with the excuse that all her evidence had been taken into account by the Met and need not be rehashed. Gray will be happy that, as a civil servant, she is not seen as bringing down an elected PM and promotion and honours will duly follow after a decent interval. This lot are all in it together and it’s becoming a culture war.

Someone could take them to Madeleine McCann kidnapper and they'd say it was too long ago to bother with.

The Met have said that the Gray report can be published in full this week without affecting their enquiries. I think he has gone this time, a sitting PM is not above the law even if he thinks he is. I believe that enough Conservative MPs think that. I also think that Johnson has become an electoral liability, if he doesn't go before he will be removed in May after an electoral roasting.

But will it? All the cops have done is put the monkey back onto Sue Gray’s back. And she reports to Bozo who could simply say there is confusion so he will wait for the police to finish.

The amount published is within the remit of the PM. This decision to involve the police will enable him to delay the inevitable.

Yes,it would be good to keep him in office until after the local elections.
