Hardest players?

Article on the BBC website about who was the hardest player to play for your premier league club got me thinking about ours over the years. Billy Bentley, Gary Briggs, Andy Morrison all spring to mind in my lifetime but any other candidates?

Yep, my first thoughts were Bentley, Morrison, Brabin, Briggs (and Charlie if you happened to be Gareth Bale).

Billy Ronson was 5 ft 4, but in the 70's I'd have backed him against anyone if he was pissed off with them.

Billy Rodaway '83-84 season
And just noticed he isn't on the celebration picture I've got when they won promotion!!☹️

I remember the fa cup match with Derby in the 70's with Ronson and Gemill kicking lumps out of each other for 90 minutes👍🏻

Wellens wasn’t averse to leaving one on somebody- and occasionally with his fists. Can’t remember who we played but it was a home game. Someone brought him down and he sprang back up jack in the box style and decked him - then walked straight to the tunnel before the ref had chance to get the red out🤣

It was the season after. Rodaway sure knew how to tackle!

It's one of my greatest disappointments how soft the sport has become nowadays. Players like Rodaway used to add a very a different entertaining dimension to games.

Brabin was a tough lad. Southern was a tough fella too, you wouldn't like a clout off him.
