It was Critchley who got rid !Wrong place wrong time. The football and tactics at the time form a very bored, uninspired manager were dreadful.
Was it? Fair enough. I only ever remember him playing under Grayson. It was Critchley who got rid !
Yeah Critchley sent him on loan for the season and then they signed him.Was it? Fair enough. I only ever remember him playing under Grayson.
I saw him play in a few games and miss some glorious chances. He's improved, but he was rubbish for us.The only time he played for us (Papa John cup games?) he played alongside Joe Nuttall says it all. I thought he looked a decent player when l saw him but what do l know
He wasn't rubbish at all and he had very little chance to prove himselfI saw him play in a few games and miss some glorious chances. He's improved, but he was rubbish for us.
Can't agree Wiz, he looked like player who had potential especially with his pace and ability to close down but was never given a chance apart from playing alongside Nuttall. Be interesting to see what his market value is now as he seems to be doing alright in the Championship.I saw him play in a few games and miss some glorious chances. He's improved, but he was rubbish for us.
Hardie or Joseph? Or as it was at the time, Hardie or Yates? We haven't missed him. Can't agree Wiz, he looked like player who had potential especially with his pace and ability to close down but was never given a chance apart from playing alongside Nuttall. Jerry never played for Barnsley so probably not !Player doesn't work out a club but does elsewhere non shocker.
Our club is littered with those types over the years some like Charlie Adam become legends.
So couldn't give a toss about Hardie good luck to the lad but did Barnsley's forum mention Jerry Yates every time he scored for us probably not.
Now edited God Knows why I put Barnsley over Rotherham need to concentrate more.Jerry never played for Barnsley so probably not !
It was Grayson who sent him out on loan initially in Jan 2020. Critchley came in in March when he was already out on loan. By the time Hardie returned in the summer he wanted to go back to Plymouth so went back on loan before making it permanent in January 21Yeah Critchley sent him on loan for the season and then they signed him.
Jerry signed on 21st July Hardie was gone 29th.Hardie looked like a player who was playing for a different team than the other 10.
I.e. he didn't suit what we were doing under Larry.
Don't think he played at all under Critch, not even pre season.
He looked a finisher, I remember saying it, but he got shipped out with little chance given.I saw him play in a few games and miss some glorious chances. He's improved, but he was rubbish for us.
Not sure we could say we haven’t missed a striker who is scoring goals in the league we got relegated from last seasonHardie or Joseph? Or as it was at the time, Hardie or Yates? We haven't missed him.
He didn’t play well for us so didn’t warrant a place in the team.
I genuinely think Nuttall was Hardie's downfall in so many ways.Don’t think Hardie ever got a proper chance because we’d spent more on Nuttall (who couldn’t be arsed being a footballer) but he’s definitely taken it at Plymouth
Critchley got rid of him not GraysonI remember this forum and twatter going into meltdown because he wasn't being played and it was even worse when he went out on loan. Grayson was a dinosaur of a manger and we lost a really good striker because he was so set in his ways.v
As stated above, he wanted away and Critchley let him go, which is different to getting rid.Critchley got rid of him not Grayson
Jerry was at Barnsley academyJerry never played for Barnsley so probably not !
Did you speak to him? How do you know he wanted away?As stated above, he wanted away and Critchley let him go, which is different to getting rid.
Because he wasn't happy and wanted away. You could see an instant difference in him when he left. Not like you to blame Critchley...Did you speak to him? How do you know he wanted away?

He went to Plymouth on loan under Grayson.Critchley got rid of him not Grayson
Yep, Grayson shipped him out to Plymouth, he helped get them promoted from League 2 and by the time Critchley came in Hardie’s heart was in Plymouth.Grayson refused to give him a chance after he scored a hattrick in the reserves. Then he sent him out on loan where Hardie thrived. I remember because I was fuming he'd been sent out. By the time Critchley came in, Hardie didn't want to be here and we respected that and let him go for a fee. I remember Critchley saying he'd spoken to him and tried to get him to stay, but he was adamant that he wanted to leave. So him leaving was on Grayson and no one else.
Grayson loaned him to Plymouth without giving him a proper chance and by the time his loan was over he had decided he wanted to move their permanently which is why he was sold in January 2021.Critchley got rid of him not Grayson
Yeah and Critchley sold himHe went to Plymouth on loan under Grayson.
Critchley said that the lad wanted to go to Plymouth, he'd asked him to stay but he wasn't going to make someone stay here that wanted to be somewhere else. Which is the exact right thing to do. If he had been given a proper chance before being loaned out then he would have stayed. His leaving was 100% on Grayson and no one else. I get you hate Critchley, but this one was really not his fault.Critchley got rid of him not Grayson
Strange that as when i spoke to Ryan Hardie at Westmorland services during his Plymouth loan he said he wanted to come back to Blackpool and impress the new managerCritchley said that the lad wanted to go to Plymouth, he'd asked him to stay but he wasn't going to make someone stay here that wanted to be somewhere else. I'm sure he was also in the last year of his contract and it was obvious that he wasn't going to be signing a new one. So the choice was, force a player to stay for the year that doesn't want to be here or get some cash for him.Critchley said that the lad wanted to go to Plymouth, he'd asked him to stay but he wasn't going to make someone stay here that wanted to be somewhere else. I'm only going off what was said by Critchley and the club when Hardie was sold. Maybe he had a change of mind inbetween speaking to you and the end of the season, maybe the club was lying, who knows.Strange that as when i spoke to Ryan Hardie at Westmorland services during his Plymouth loan he said he wanted to come back to Blackpool and impress the new manager
Must have been lying
