Harry Toffolo betting ban

I see Toffolo, who placed 375 bets as a professional footballer, has been given a suspended ban.

Absolutely ridiculous. Should automatically be a year ban from playing if you bet on games in the English football pyramid.

If he, as doubtless will be claimed, has a gambling addiction he coukd work on that during his time in the game.

Personally I think it should be limited to games the payer is personally involved in…I don’t see the issue betting on other games but the penalty should be really harsh if you bet on a game you are involved in.

Not sure it’s about the money for these lads more a thrill in what must be a disciplined life for most of the year. Used to see Andy Morrison ploughing his money in those betting terminals a few years ago in Macclesfield which was sad to see.

I just don't get it . What pleasure can be gained from the almost certainty that you will lose hard earned cash ?
And I always got wound up by a friend of mine who would bet on Blackpool winning by say 4-1 , who would be willing the opposition to score with us 4 nil up .

I think the problem with betting on games you're not involved in comes from having friends in the game asking you to back so and so for them, with some inside info, and then you returning the favour on your game and going halves in on the returns.
Slippery slope.
