I bought into the hype surrounding NC being an Elite coach and i like we try to play football and are not just some lower league cloggers.
However i did a bit of research into the 'Elite coaching' badge he holds.
Only 16 people in the World have it you know!!
Thats because it was scrapped after one attempt. So basically it was an educational vanity award.
Loads of people have the pro licence the actual top standard which is widely recognised.
None of the other so called15 'Elite Coaches' have pulled up trees. A couple have had lower league jobs and failed. Most are working at youth level or elsewhere.
Im not saying NC got the job just because of this, Im sure it was his work at Liverpool that was the main factor but i think it was definitely seen as icing.
Now someone who has been a youth coach has to start somewhere at senior level. Blackpool was & still is a great opportunity under an ambitious new owner.
You have to look at dealing with seasoned pros which can be hard if you have not done so before. There is also the issue of player recruitment, If you are a novice with little knowledge of players beyond prem academy level you will likely not have seen many lower league players or lower league football on a regular basis.
That puts him at a disadvantage to Terry Mcphillips & certainly Simon Grayson even 1st time round as they had both been around lower league players & football.
So as far as recruitment goes he obviously needs help and guidance and probably support from someone who knows the lower leagues imho.
Is he getting this, does he have the structure & support to succeed?
He may learn on the job but it will take time.
Loads of players have been signed under Simon Sadler, He is doing his best but the more you throw cash around the more perhaps you leave yourself open to agents pushing players at you that may not be what is required?
Word may even go round that Blackpool may be an easy touch to get a player into & a nice payday?. Never an issue under Fedora & Son.
A manager/coach will always want & take players, Even if loads are signed most will still believe they are just a couple away from completing the jigsaw. Its rather easy to end up with an unbalanced & even bloated squad that can create more problems than it solves.
An integral part of good coaching/management however is making the best out of what you have.
Im not sure though the signings have been as good as many thought. Charlton looked like they had some better players than us.
I dont think it is really bad but we are obviously lacking at times, certainly in terms of a goal threat.
Got to feel a bit sorry for Simon Sadler, he has done more that his bit with finance.
Is the team though significantly better than what we had even at the end of days under the virtually no spend previous owners?
I certainly think the squad is better and its still very early days so hopefully things will come together?
However I dont think many of the signings since Simon Sadler took over have really hit the ground running & yet convinced 100%, perhaps its because expectations are now higher?
Does scouting and recruitment need to be better, have mistakes been made, or do have we a very good squad waiting to click?
Most hopes at the moment seem to be pinned on the two loan boys coming good & NC finding the pieces in the squad for the jigsaw to take shape & be competitive in LG1 football.
So for a poll rather than ask about the appointment of NC I am going to ask about recruitment.
Have we done well with player recruitment? I am not sure what the recruitment policy is but i doubt NC would know enough to recruit all the players.
Who made the decision to pretty much start again from scratch? Was it NC, If so that is massive & imo it seems foolish to give so much control to a Rookie LG1 manager.
Was the decision made by others above?
Will it prove to be the right one>

Training Ground Guru | Graduates of the only FA Elite Coaches Course: Where are they now?
IN 2011, the Football Association invited 16 of the brightest young English coaches to take part in a new Elite Coaches Course. It was disbanded after 18 months, meaning they are the only coaches to hold the award. We set out to discover what they're doing now.

Has Recruitment Been Good Enough?
Being at the coalface of LG1 football is totally different to coaching at youth level. It requires a different skillset. You have to look at dealing with seasoned pros which can be hard if you have not done so before.
