Have we gone for the 'Crewe' model way too soon?

Clearly Simon Sadler is a businessman who will be looking for a return on his investment. We know the only way that you get investment in the lower leagues is to bring on players and then sell them. You look at what Crewe have done for years and it's commendable.

Maybe that's the reason that Critchley seemed an ideal match for us. However, it feels like we're in the middle of a huge experiment where rather than deal with the present, we're looking to the future. I just worry that for the one or two successes, the team as a whole might be a massive failure and for that we'll pay a heavy price.

I think Sadler was thinking these new players were Championship bound....
He got the wrong league....
League 2 bound theyll thrive there...

Its a completely different approach to what Crewe do

Crewe have spent the last 30 years or so building up their Academy and scouting networks

The majority of the sell ons Crewe have had have come from Academy players

Vaughan, Savage, Hulse, Rob Jones, Ashton, David Platt, Neil Lennon etc etc

Crewe are strong thought the Academy age groups and compete with Man Utd, City and Liverpool at the foundation ages

Quite an impressive bunch there Phil. 👍
I think i read somewhere that nearly 100 Academy players have gone on to play professional football from the Crewe set up

Several internationals as well
I forgot Danny Murphy, Steve Jones and Geoff Thomas

Few ex Pool players as well, Max Clayton, Kelvin Mellor, Michael Jackson, Turton
