HEIGHT

Harsh lesson but then again we won't play against many sides like Cardiff. We have an ethos and need to be brave enough to stick with it. Did people really think we'd be promoted or coast to wins against the likes of Cardiff? Have a couple of pints and go again against Coventry.

Being big doesn't guarantee aggression and competing and winning. We lost cos we didn't play very well today. It happens, it just didn't knit together for one reason or another. We have a style of play which I think is correct and sometimes our players will get undone, a lot are young and will learn. Let's not over react.
They were big though ha ha.

My thoughts exactly.

I don’t know about a right back we desperately need 2 x 6’6 centre backs.

Just never in it today completely pushed and shoved off the ball by bigger stronger players.

Marv 6 ft 4
Oliver Casey 6 ft 2
Both on the bench weren't they?

The first goal from a nod on from the LB position was inevitable, they won so many. In the first half.
We had opportunity to close off that route but didn't take it.

And, as I heard many fans saying after the game, why are Bowler and Lavery not starting?

Personally I thought Critch would have gone with Marv and Keogh with Hubby at left back against a big strong Cardiff attack. Garbs didn't offer much today.

Exactly the same last week, Bristol City were big physical units, we need to work out a way to play against this type of side.

Did ok today but regardless of performance we will get done time in time out by height. End of. If we do not address it. Relegation.
Doesn’t take long does it?
Two matches in and the word relegation crops up.
I assume you were one of those who called for Critchley to be sacked after about 5 games last season.

We played into Cardiffs hands by playing long high balls. When we started playing the ball on the floor and when Lavery and Bowler came on we looked decent and created more far more chances.
I thought there was a hand ball in the area when they broke and got the 2nd.
The first was percentage footage at it's best and we found it difficult to deal with.
I think we'll learn from this.

Yes, three times in the first half they had long throws flicked on that they almost scored from, the first long throw in the second half same result, flicked on and we go 1-0 down.

All teams scout their opponents and I'm pretty sure the lad scribbling away in front of me could well be Coventry's scout and he would note we are weak as piss at set pieces, we're not going to win many games if we can't do the basics and defend set pieces.

Take note Critch.

Might be a style of play you think correct and I wish it would work but after 3 goals against and 3 headers we will get undone by set pieces/corners. Pretty football won’t always work.

Nope never, Critch has done fantastic.
It’s a basic point of the game. The Championship will suss us out and work on corners and set pieces against us.
Putting words in to people’s mouths doesn’t work.

Exactly

You and 62 have Blackpool relegated already.
No, I said we'll be in a relegation scrap. Some of last season's players will step up and some won't. Some of our summer signings will but the likes of Grimshaw, Moore, Keogh, James and JJ won't.
We lack height and strength and it may take splashing the cash in January to save us.

Yep Cardiff would have pumped Spain today cus of their tallnes.... Or did they win today cus there wage bill, at a guess is 3 times more than ours......

I'm looking forward of 62 and counting spectacular offer of paying for an aiden flint type players first weeks wage, a rough guess without checking,... 15 bags... Or maybe he feels Simon lack of ambition (not spending 20million In wages) is the problem Saddler out ya thick **.

It took 60 minutes before we worked out to play to feet and not try and lump it long to the forwards who didn’t win a header all day
High balls lumped Aimlessly forward, particularly by HUSBAND , to players at least 1st shorter than their markers , REALLY ?
We played just like we did last season early on. No movement off the ball, bypassing the midfield, and substitutions made too late.
Things will improve , but it is frustrating.
