Help - 1973/74 pre-season friendlies

I found on youtube the 'friendly' v Man City in August '73 but cannot find much info. on it or whether we held any other friendlies that season.

I say friendly - it wasn't for poor Alan Ainscow as he missed half the season thanks to Rodney 'not as good as you think' Marsh.

Any ideas where I could search for more pre-season info. for the start of this season?

We played Newcastle around that era too but we might have been in the Texeco Cup - google that in 73-74

ainscow did his cartilage v City but Glyn James broke Franny Lee’s big toe ! Ouch (accidentally landed on it jumping for a header)

my abiding memory of that match was George Wood’s save (possibly off Lee) where he flicked at the ball and it curled around the post (@ The South Stand end - a truly remarkable save off the x England players and part time to become boxer

I think Bell played and like Suddick oozed midfield class

We weren't in the Texaco Cup that season according to my Rothmans Annual.

Wood's save was stunning. It was off Dennis Law who later went off after a clash of heads - maybe with Glyn James but hard to tell as it is no.6 who would normal be Peter Suddaby but he wore no.5

Google: Blackpool v Manchester City friendly Wed 15 Aug 1973 - not too much action but lots of players on the floor !!
