Help Re Squires Gate Retail Park

Had a hire car recently whilst mine was being repaired and noticed a few days after the car was returned that Enterprise had taken £35 from my bank account without my knowledge. I enquired about it and was told that it was an admin fee as I’d got a speeding fine or parking fine. I asked for proof and it turns out it was my wife who’d met a friend at Costa on Squires Gate Retail Park and had parked there for longer than the permitted 2 hours. I wasn’t aware of a limit down there and she was adamant that there was nothing there to say there were parking restrictions. I’ve been down there tonight and low and behold there’s warning signs all over the place. I went to ask in Costa and they seem to think the signs only went up in the last 2 weeks and our charge relates to Friday 8th April. Is there anyone on here who goes down there regularly and knows with any accuracy when the signage went up? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd ask Costa who they used to put up the signs & contact them first, unfortunately if it's the parking company (usually tossers) I doubt if you'll get anywhere.

It’s Euro Car Parks mate, nothing to do with Costa. The girls in there weren’t sure exactly when the signage went up but it sounds like it was after my wife was parked there. Just trying to find out exactly when so I can challenge it.

Signs have been there for years at Morrisons, my Dad got a ticket which he 'persuaded' them to drop and he's been dead five years.

I don't know of a supermarket car park that allows over 2 hours to be honest , it's the same at motorway services.

They put new signs and cameras up about three weeks ago. It's two hours on the retail park and three in Morrisons.
Who the hell spends 3 hours in morrisons even on a big shop, anyway turning up in a tractor is asking for trouble you will certainly draw attention to yourself that’s why I go in my van,I’ve become an ex tractor fan for that very reason
sorry I couldn’t help myself with that one

Law needs to change on those kind of things. Its simply a measure to gouge additional profit. Cuncils build these retail parks the retailers and restaurants go in en masse on the understanding that they have shoppers there for several hours and then they give contracts to private parking companies.

You can just completely ignore the 'fine' mind you.

You'd better tell your dad that his driving licence is no longer valid. But actually, I doubt he gives a shit. They'll never catch him.

Last year I hired a car from Enterprise whilst mine was having a job done at Chorley Motors..
Only did a few miles.
However they didn't charge me for the hire.👍

I’ve no idea Mac it was actually nearer 3 hours 😂😂 you know what women are like once they get nattering. Turned out to be the most expensive coffee in history

My wife also got a 60quid ticket there last week and had no idea of the time limit
She has cancer and is the first time she has been out after a chemo break .I am disgusted and angry as this is just a money making scam .Not going to appeal as it will be forgotten in a few weeks and not worth staying stressed over

Can anyone provide a genuine example when this has worked?
It did actually work for my son a few years ago.. We received a 40 quid fine recently having parked at Ewood Park Aldi for the Blackburn game and just paid it. We just didn’t want to take the gamble and anyway it was worth it for a very enjoyable game plus we didn’t miss kick off 😀

Like I said it used to work but it no longer does so it's either pay or appeal don't just ignore

Probably more for buying shopping etc but......

Usually if you get in touch with the place you have been to spend money at, they should drop the charge, after all you are there spending money at their store, somethings you lose track of time. Its there to stop people taking the piss and leaving cars all day or whatever.

Imagine the scenario going into Currys wanting to spend a fair bit of money on a state of the Art TV which can take a fair while and that's when you can find a knowledgeable assistant, and then having to queue up to pay for it which can take time based on experience. Sorry but 2 hour park time in a retail car park thats never full is unacceptable!
