Hold Your Heads High

Only got to see from just after Grimshaw's injury but it looked like the pre-planned 70th minute subs livened things up. Not sure if Dembele is one of those who's been suffering with illness as he didn't seem quite on it but Joseph & Lavery were chasing about after anything that moved.

Just hope the body count is OK for the weekend now after it. And they don't forget about what brought them to the dance in this game when they go behind in the league and revert to type. The last thing you want in a losing effort in a game in a competition you're never going to win anyway is injuries on top of the realisation that it's a lot of effort for not a lot of reward.

Fantastic performance, I thought. Good all over the park. The better side in the second 45. Gabriel and Lyons great, Marv and Jimmy, Albie, Joseph, Lavery. Dembele looked capable of winning for us but just lacked a bit of sharpness. We'd be top two in L1 if we played like that regularly. Ollie saying they don't realise how good they are. I'd say that's right.

Nothing more to add except to those who think we are boring, then I hope you watched this.
I get where you are coming from but it's hardly going to change an opinion when we watch shite away from home match after match.

Beating Bristol Rovers away will mean a lot more but unfortunately it's going to be another Port Vale type performance unless something clicks or changes.

I thought it in the first game and again tonight that what’s missing is just self belief. Hope they watch that second half over and over and realise what they are capable of. It’ll bring a bit of confidence to our away games.

Before Holloway went off for his hot chocolate and marshmallows with Karly boy I'd have had him in for five minutes at the end there to tell them all that in his unique way. He could be our Derren Brown. Or Kenny Craig.

Totally proud of them tonight. They played like the really wanted it. All of them put in a good shift and we were one moment of better composure away from victory. Morgan is getting better every game and has to be the first name the teamsheet but all of them can hold their heads high after that performance.

Proud, frustrated and delighted at the same time. Every player put a shift in and they can consider themselves unlucky not to be through to Round 4. That Dembele chance would have been incredible had it found the net. Hopefully a couple of days of rest and prep for what for me is a massive game at Bristol Rovers. Apply ourselves and show that amount of skill/effort and we can give ourselves some momentum.

credit to the lads, we had them on the ropes and were a whisker from delivering the knockout blow. no quibbles from me.

the 2nd half especially was very encouraging and we saw a glimpse of just how well two proper wing-backs can perform in the right formation. i really hope lyons and gabriel have made up the manager's mind for him. we also have plenty options in attack and it is now critch's challenge to make the formation(s) as flexible and fluid as possible.

Fair point
Critchley needs to take note and stop worrying about L1 opposition
Just play our own game and stop obsessing about crap possession stats

Well done to the boys. Premier League side couldn’t beat us over 180 minutes and boy will they know they were in a game.

Tactics pretty good but our defence was poor first half and early second. Forward line improved with the addition of Shane and Kyle. If only Dembele had a right foot!!!!

Lets be honest, we have been as boring as f@ck quite often this season, but tonight we played at a higher tempo and less tippy tappy and it showed and you could feel the crowd respond to it.

More of the same for the rest of the season please Neil.
We haven’t been boring at all.. this is a lazy line trotted out by people who don’t understand the game.

That may be your opinion but its certainly not mine or a hell of a lot of other fans pal.

As for "understanding the game" I think after many years of watching, coaching, managing football at many levels I comfortably qualify as someone who understands the game.

Such a shame he didn't bury that chance. If he had I reckon we'd all still be there in the ground! Regardless, that tonight was a glimpse of what Blackpool FC are all about at our very best. Up against it, but tilting at windmills as we always have done. Another great night to be a Seasider despite the result.

I have just finished watching the game on ESPN+ and both Martin Tyler and Clive Allen were full of praise for Blackpool and how the game was a great advert for the FA Cup. We can take a lot of positives particularly the way we battled back from being 0-2 down. I thought Gabriel, Lyons showed how good they are as wing-backs. The introduction of Lavery, Joseph and Dembele transformed our attack and had the Forest defense fully stretched if they can reproduce that on a consistent basis they will terrorize Lg1 defences.

I've got to say after their winner in extra time I'm not even that gutted. Just pride, proud of us supporters in the ground tonight , proud of the battling quality the players showed us after going 2 down. Proud of the fact that we matched a premier league time twice in 180 minutes.
So we miss out on a Friday night trip to Bristol in a competition we don't really stand a chance in, I'm over it!
Just hope this performance defines the rest of our season

Possession football is boring when Spain where the beat team in the world they used to bore me to death.
All teams are doing it at whatever level and only the likes of City are brilliant on the eye.

If you don't play ball so to speak you get outfought in midfield and fail to get hold of the football to do anything with.

I've asked a few times on here to name 5 teams we've played against this season you've thought wow their exciting, someone came up with 2 one of those we beat twice!
Modern football get used to it,embrace it otherwise walk away as it doesn't look like changing soon.

There is always one, and (not surprisingly) its you.
The vast majority of supporters really enjoyed that game, and what’s more, gave a great response to the team at the end despite the defeat.
Whilst the minority were just thing of getting beat on Saturday.
You really are a top class supporter. Oh, and by the way, did you notice the attendance.

I am just saying what most are thinking. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes, the attendance was slightly higher than what I predicted. I said 5,000ish home fans and 2k Forest fans. Actually, when I said only 2k Forest fans would attend I got called clueless with people saying they would sell out so thank you for giving me an opportunity to highlight that.

They did sell out. They were limited to 2,000.

And it's not what most were thinking.

Are you sticking with your prediction of 1500 home fans against Bolton?

No I will say 3,000 for Bolton.

It definitely is what most are thinking. People are thinking when we will next win away from home.

Absolutely. Rather go for it and lose a few than the tepid, wet blanket performances like Burton and Port Vale
