Holiday further cancellation.

We had booked to to the Oberammergau Passion Play in 2000.
Last year they told us it was being postponed. but we could book another trip with the company.
WE booked a River Cruise for last year. That was also cancelled so we booked one for this year (Aug 4th).
That has now been cancelled. They asked if we wanted to book for next year. We decide not to, for a number of reasons.
Obviously they wanted to keep our money, we had paid in full (About £4,000 total) .
Now the big decision, what do we do now?
Obviously need to look elsewhere now. 🙄
Still waiting for clearance to visit friends in France this year.

I know you have worked throughout a lot of the UK but are there any areas you have not visited?
Pembrokeshire still remains one of my fave places both at home and abroad

MrsDPs ex boss had to retire so went to Pembrokeshire because it was better for him.
He was 6' 7" and only one leg, a great guy.
We stayed with them a few times over the years, so know it well.
Lovely area.
Also, when working for Beds Police we, partner and I, drove down a couple of times to bring back prisoners wanted on our Warrants.
Hell of a journey, there and back to Beds in a day.

Get your money back DP if you haven’t already, book a flight to Munich next year and still go to Oberammergau as the place is stunning. You are also very close to Garmisch-Partenkirchen which is also stunning as are the Bavarian Alps in general. The Passion Play is every ten years so is it cancelled until 2030 do you know?

Just done a week in New Quay - Wales. Great part of the country.

Also did a bit of island hopping in Scotland last year - Skye and then Lewis / Harris. Both excellent..

Edit - it's not cheap.

France is currently accepting double jabbed brits in with no quarantine. UK to allow returns from Amber countries with no quarantine from mid July (TBC)

Instead of getting that car serviced, hire a motorhome and go on tour?

TB, you must know that we love Germany. Been to Oberammergau a couple of times and one time we were looking at the theatre where they do The Passion Play. This young guy spoke to us and he told us that he was going to play Jesus in 2011, and he took us round the theatre.
He also told us that they were not allowed to shave if they were in the play. He had a beard already (2010).
As we missed 2021 we decided to get the money back. Have been going to that area for many years. Love Garmisch Partenkirchen and all that area.
Don't forget that I did my National Service in Germany in 1953/5.
Hope you are well.

DP l forgot you did your NS in Germany so you will know that area well, stunning part of Germany it has to be said. We’re hoping to go back next May for a week base ourselves in Munich and hire a car and visit some of our favourite places, Tegernsee, Schliersee and others.

TB, actually that area of D/land was the 'American Sector', ours was Northern Germany.
I was in Detmold where there were about 5 regiments in the Garrison. Even RAF and RAF regiment.
However, that's when I discovered what a beautiful country it was.

Kelstein mountain where Bormann had a tea house built for Hitler ( he seldom visited it) and Berteschgarten are interesting for WW2 buffs. Stunning scenery on the bus that takes you to the base of the Kelstein then you go into a tunnel then take lift up to the mountain. Neuschwanstein castle built by the so called Mad King of Bavaria is beautiful. Bavarians I found to be even more blunt than those pesky Yarkie types😜

Indeed DP, l remember the first time l went to GP in 1990 there were hundreds of American soldiers and families around the town. A mate of mine was a ski instructor in the British Army and did most of their training on the Zugspitze

I did a lot of military outward bounds training around Garmisch, based out of Fussen, including loads of kayaking on the Loisach and the Olympic slalom course at Augsburg.
A stunning part of the world.
