Hope Grimmy puts a complaint in

Whoever the woman was co-commentating last night should be ashamed of herself for continually saying Grimmy's injury was a bruised ego. Anyone with half a brain could see what happened in that incident and how disrespectful to say it was because he hadn't saved a goal (which wasn't his fault).
The fact she kept calling us 'Orange shirts' throughout the game clearly reflected a lack of any research or insight.

Was at the game but coming in to work this morning, she's being talked about more than the game! Who was she?
Will be watching back later as recorded it - interesting to see this exchange between Ollie and Critchley.

So Joey Barton was right after all about women commentators in the mens game.

Pity everyone called him out instead of agreeing with him.

As I started the thread, I don't want this to turn in to a mysogonists paradise - the male commentator was no better not picking her up. The fact she was female is irrelevant. It's the uneducated and actually quite insulting words I am picking up on.
Not sure I agree.

He never once called us them in Orange shirts which she repeatedly did.

It’s also not a commentators job to keep picking up his co-commentators mistakes live on TV as it would end up a shambles.

Hopefully the ITV4 producer watched it all back.

She also called Albie Morgan a "fan favourite around Bloomfield Road" or something to that effect. Glad to see her knowledge and research goes back as far as last Saturday.

She did come across as a tad patronising throughout the game, and sounded like a 'matronly aunt' who pats you on the head and gives it the old 'aaaaaaw bless, you run along and play football with your little friends'....!

Mind you, the male commentator kept having digs about Blackpool as a town, and giving the viewing public the suggestion that we are 'struggling' 'also rans '.....! 🤡
Also, I'm sure I heard him refer to BFC as being from league 2...!

I must also remember to send them an email to thank the both of them from gracing us with their presence...... 🤣

Half of this board call us struggling also rans, to be fair, well adrift of the playoffs, no chance of going up, etc etc.

I watched the game out here in Indoland on Bein Sports with Tyler and Townsend. It was pretty good - they had both obviously done a lot of research into both sides and both seemed to get caught up in the excitement of the game, too.

It's nothing to do with Barton's Misogynistic rantings. The fact is irrespective of her gender, she was ill informed, had not done her research and was clearly incompetent and biased. There are other the female commentators out there that could have done a far better job than either her or her equally biased and incompetent male colleague

It’s his opinion if you don’t agree with it fine but like this board everyone is entitled to an opinion wether you agree with it or not.
I had a thread of Barton's appear on my twitter feed last night. He's a malicious arsehole. No two ways about it. And thick as two short planks. And he attracts a crowd of sycophantic nasty blokes who are basically fuelled by hatred, like him. Don't be one of them.

I don’t like the guy never have.

Thought what he said against the Oystons back in the day was spot on though.

Again one of the few high profile people who spoke out against them.

The whole commentary was poor no acknowledgement that an expensively assembled Premier League side incl a World Cup Winner were playing a League 1 side and were hauled over the coals was all about Forest disgrace.

Barton is an arsehole no doubt about it but that doesn’t mean he is wrong about pundits. It is true that certain male pundits are terrible as well but I can’t think of one good female pundit.

The female pundits vary and so do the male. It'll improve. There's no need for all the narrow minded bigotry that gets poured out online by men of limited intelligence.

Pretty sure it was Lucy Ward...the one who Joey Barton 'attacked' alongside Eni Aluko. I believe they are looking at legal action. Seems if you don't like someone's opinion about yourself, then just sue them. Pathetic.

I saw Joey has put a screenshot of a private chat between he and Aluko on Twitter in which she calls him a white-boy in a derogatory way. Not sure Joey would get away with that the other way round. All getting out of hand now. The very worst of social media.

On the match thread I referred to the "person" as the "co-commentator". I don't care what sex, colour, creed or pronoun the person was - fact is they were diabolical at their job.

Can't argue with any of that really....!
However, WE can say it, we're supporters, but it doesn't need commentators throwing in their two penn'arth in... !! 😬

The game is available on ITVX if people want to watch it again.

Given Matterface is ITV’s main commentator, he is really poor. Had a right unnecessary dig at Harry Kane when he missed the penalty v France in the World Cup.

And anyone who doesn’t do enough research to know we play in tangerine is just stealing a living.

She was awful.

There are never any female commentators when listening on iFollow(normally bbc Lancs and opposition comms are normally from whatever region we are up against). That is the problem, they’ve gone straight in at the top. No hard yards done in regional radio. Not learned their craft. She has never played the men’s game professionally and nor have I. I’m not qualified to commentate on a live game and give insight to you the football fan so why is she?

Edit to add: she gave Yates MOTM for working really hard. He ‘set the tone’ apparently

Surely the constant reference to orange was deliberate, she must have known and if not, she had no right to be there. Her fee should be withdrawn and given to charity

On the BBC ratings he was over 2 points behind a few of our players, but it always goes to the winning side

These commentators should at least have a basic understanding of team colours. The kind of stuff most of us footy fans learn before we reach 10 years of age.

Maybe get a program, clearly states TANGERINE SHIRTS!

Eluko has got form for that. (Legal action). Didn't like being omitted from Mark Sampson's England women's squad. Played the race card and ultimately Mark Sampson was sacked. If anyone has seen the clip on YouTube with Jimmy Bullard doing a shooting drill you will see how little ability she has.

So has Lucy.

I get that but they are pretty terrible at the moment and there is definitely a feeling of being force fed. It is surely possible to be critical of something without being accused of bigotry.
