Hope Grimmy puts a complaint in

Eluko has got form for that. (Legal action). Didn't like being omitted from Mark Sampson's England women's squad. Played the race card and ultimately Mark Sampson was sacked. If anyone has seen the clip on YouTube with Jimmy Bullard doing a shooting drill you will see how little ability she has.
Eni Aluko behaved petulantly when dropped by England and gets rewarded with a TV punditry contract. Madness!

I get that but they are pretty terrible at the moment and there is definitely a feeling of being force fed. It is surely possible to be critical of something without being accused of bigotry.
They are not all bad. You are guilty of just rubbishing them all. IMO. Not of bigotry, I was referring to some stuff I see, like the Barton Twitter thread, and some posts on here.

Fair enough but I have yet to see a good one. Sue Smith is about the only one who seems to talk any sense.

I’ve got nothing against female pundits, some are pretty knowledgeable and come across well, but that Lucy Ward is just thick as sh1t. I suppose if enough people complain about her to the broadcasters then they might actually realise how bad she is.

As I started the thread, I don't want this to turn in to a mysogonists paradise - the male commentator was no better not picking her up. The fact she was female is irrelevant. It's the uneducated and actually quite insulting words I am picking up on.
The word is misogyny which is hatred of women which describes nobody on this board not even me. The commentator is rightly getting a good pasting here just like we'd criticise a man, welcome to equality. Your mistake is understandable and shared by the mods, but stop using words you clearly don't know the meaning of.

Whoever the woman was co-commentating last night should be ashamed of herself for continually saying Grimmy's injury was a bruised ego. Anyone with half a brain could see what happened in that incident and how disrespectful to say it was because he hadn't saved a goal (which wasn't his fault).
The fact she kept calling us 'Orange shirts' throughout the game clearly reflected a lack of any research or insight.
If Grimmy is really arsed about what a commentator said - he’s the issue.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

He probably won’t even know the commentator said that. And they’re literally just words, people in this generation need to stop being offended by WORDS.

So Joey Barton was right after all about women commentators in the mens game.

Pity everyone called him out instead of agreeing with him.
Stupid comment . . . there are good and bad commentators / pundits no matter what sex they are.

I agree the woman on Wednesday was awful but there are plenty of really bad male commentators as well as good female ones.

Barton's comments said all women were bad and basically that they shouldn't be allowed in the arena which is clearly both wrong and ignorant.

Did make me angry when she came out with the bruised ego comment but just to balance it out slightly she did later apologise for saying it and admitted Grimmy was clearly hurt making the block save.
It is absolutely unprofessional for a commentator to question the professionalism of a player. Sit in your ivory towers and tell us what is going on in the game, not make personal digs at those on the pitch. That should be the same for either sex. Pundits that have played the game at a high level can offer insight, commentators should commentate.

Stupid comment?
I’ve previously said I don’t like Joey Barton and never have in an earlier comment but he’s 100% spot on regarding women suddenly being experts in the game when most have no history at in that sport but they suddenly become a football pundit overnight.

If you can’t see it fair enough but I can most of these are their because of their looks not their brains.

The co commentator on Wednesday night was just embarrassing to listen to for over 2 hours I lost count the number of times she kept saying the men in orange it was just cringeworthy not to mention some of the other stupid stuff she kept waffling on about.

I’ve nothing at all against women commentating in mens sport but FFS get the right people in who have done it and who know what they are talking about.

I agree about the woman on Wednesday - she was just awful but I just can't agree with the rest of what you say.

The fact that she was poor had nothing to do with the fact she was a woman . . it's because she was just very bad. She was lacking in both knowledge, delivery and understanding of the game. There are plenty of blokes who are also very poor commentators / pundits - Paul Scholes and Michael Owen spring to mind but there are plenty of others like our very own double act of Chizzy & Super Brett!!

You don't necessarily need to be an expert or have played the game like Barton says - as far as I know there are no ex professional players who commentate. As for presenters / pundits I don't believe Mark Chapman or Jeff Stelling ever played the game but it doesn't stop them from being very good at talking about football.

I'd don't even know who the woman was on Weds - I presume an ex pro - but there are plenty of very good female commentators / pundits.

Like everything in life there are good and bad no matter what your gender, etc.

Joey Barton was clearly wrong in what he said.

I saw the mini highlights of the game on BBC iPlayer last night which included the radio commentary of Conor McNamara with Charlie as pundit.

Conor McNamara is so much better than Sam Matterface it’s embarrassing. In comparison Sam Matterface sounds like he is work experience.
