HOTSHOT WANTED

I'd be sorry to see Jerry leave, but it's very likely of course.
With a 1+ 1 left on his contract, I think the club are quite rightly holding out for 4m if this report is to be believed. He'd be worth that valuation easily imo. To score 14 championship goals in a struggling relegation side is an excellent achievement, even if a small number were penalties.

Maybe the start of us shedding the "Little Blackpool" attitude. The 2.5m talked about recently re. The Rangers interest was a joke surely.

The only way to shake off this small club mentality and the reputation we seemingly have of being a club where bargains can be found is to stop dishing out bargains. We set our price for Jerry, and there's no negotiation - if no-one meets the price, we keep him. Oxford kept Brannagan, Peterborough kept Clarke-Harris, there really is no need to sell.
We shouldn't be selling Jerry for anything less than £4m, and it shouldn't be up for discussion, or be a deal involving add-ons etc. We need to wise up and become much more hard-nosed.

I’d be absolutely gutted, with 2 years on his contract we really don’t need to sell him until this time next season. If we are serious about getting straight back up, he’s a key piece in the jigsaw.

We didn’t invest the Bowler money to strengthen as we should have done. We have nothing tangible to compensate for his departure and I’d be concerned that the same would happen if Jerry goes.

£4-5m if we can get a nice bidding war going. Great profit on a player who had had one decent season in Div 2 but Rotherham didn’t rate him.

They’re out there and if we get that sort of money it’ll give us enough to sign 4 or 5 good prospects.

I’ll be gutted though. Favourite player of past 3 years (along with Gaz of course!)

We'd miss him like nobody's business. Can't see 4m though as some of those goals were pens. His workrate is worth just as much as his goals.

Wasn't Bob Hatton the divisions leading goalscorer when we went down 78?

You mean like last season? Thommo and Wright? They worked out well! We should have shit loads if we get 4 million for him because we still have the Bowler, Quitchley and money we got back for Wright, lets hope those who are doing the deals this season do a better job than the fuck ups last year.

I don’t mean putting it away for a rainy day or to pay towards the East stand or Training Ground, I meant we didn’t strengthen enough in the vital transfer window and were relegated. Missed out on targets left, right and centre. Settled for loans and sicknotes no other club would touch.
Used on crocks like Goode, Bridcutt, Trybull etc

I’m probably being optimistic but as he seems to love the club if i were him I’d stay for next season, score a shed load of goals in a lower league and then accept a big pay rise or go for an even bigger pay rise and fee the season after next,if he does go I’ll be gutted but the reception he’ll get when he plays against us in the future will be great, unless he’s in a boring white shirt from some boring club on the shite end of the M55, that’ll never happen he’s got more class than that

I think he was and we sold both him and Walsh

Oh how they would love to pay us back for stealing the jewel in their crown in Tony Ellis!.
You're right our Jerry has more class than that and ambition.

Considering the Bowler money disappeared into a Ormerod-esq void, I’d be inclined to keep him.
It went into the club's account. Not a voud. Or an Oyston account. We paid significant wages for Bowler, Poveda, Goode. Rogers, Patino etc I'm sure. We signed Lyons. Our wage bill is about 4 times out ST income.

Of all the things that Sadler can do this summer to make up for the bad decisions of last summer is show some ambition and not sell Jerry.
Unless the players puts in a transfer request I'd be sitting down with him now and getting him on board for the promotion push.
