How is it……

They just can’t manage to be anything apart from a bit shit where it really matters though.

Still straining their necks looking up at the Pool, despite how far behind them we supposedly are.
They might well be but it only takes a couple of these players to be moved on for big money and all of a sudden you’re self sustainable

It’s about integrating them in over a proper process though MM. People are suggesting that there is no process or that NC is not interested in developing our own youth players… Yet I’m giving you an example where our much younger talents have been given a development opportunity by the manager and you want to just ignore it…

I bet if it happened at Fleetwood it would be groundbreaking news.. 😂
You’re probably right but I honestly can’t remember any of them being brought through and unfortunately BBC stats don’t cover that crap cup for me to check

What you mean like the players we have recently moved on for decent money?

When was the last time FTFC sold a player for £4-£6M ??

good debate. A key to the answer for me, is what happens with Apter next season. He's more than proved himself in L2 this season and if he's not a regular in our squad next season then questions do need to be asked. Of Critchley! He's supposed to be a coach who was reported to develop players for the first team. We've seen little evidence of that. People will point to Apter and Casey but did they improve as players because of the managers at the clubs they were on loan with. I've always been of the belief that Critchley has his favourites and they are the players he's brought to the club himself. Apter isn't one.
He may be on his way to Tranmere for a small fee, who knows, but hope not!

All the information is available on the Blackpool App. Lots of the Youth played and performed very well against a strong Morecambe side (The one where Tayt Trusty - remember him 😉 - was stretchered off)

They have a central defender with Aston Villa apparently who is due to make them double that I have been told. Ps who have we moved for that kind of money since the Prem…… and don’t say Josh Bowler cos I was told by the man who counts that he wasn’t 😉

Rob Apter came through the ranks, then he goes out on loan,in my opinion he is as good as we have.
Rob Apter turned down Wigan's academy in favour of as a 16yr old. Kyle Joseph came through Wigan's academy.
I saw him play for them quite a few times.

We don't develop players from the academy and we haven't for decades. The academy is pointless and a great waste of money.

So with all those excuses being dragged on and on, when can we actually expect to see an academy player play for the first team?
Well given Apter, Moore and others have played in the first team already… I suppose about 2/3 years ago.

When will turn play regularly? - When they’re good enough and ready to do so.

How’s your football club performing out of curiosity? Or that one you ran a while back ? I’m assuming it was a major success given your level of expertise? 🧐

If Apter and Moore are as good as it gets Simon might as well save himself a fortune developing an expensive academy then 🙄

Your logic is all over the place. These are players we’ve got without the expensive academy. Surely if you think they’re no good it’s reason for SS to double down on his plans.

Also given on one post you’re all butt hurt because none of our players live locally, surely the academy plan would be a key way to address this problem you perceive. Kids developed at the club are a lot more likely to live and lay down roots on the Fylde coast

I’m saying that if these are the ones that have come through after all the money he’s put in then is it worth it?

I’m certainly not hurt….. but it does annoy me 👍🏼

I do wonder what kids who have had first team minutes in The Johnstons Sherpa Ldv Cup are learning at the likes of Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Southport, Bradford. PA or in Sassi's case sitting on the bench with Rochdale.

Blackpool’s has been running a lot longer than that, my nephew was there over 15 years ago
Prior to the recent takeover, OO had essentially been running the club into the ground over a sustained period. Blackpool FC was a 'Toxic' Brand.

In many ways for SS it was worse than starting an Academy from scratch, because he also had to recover the Club's reputation and rebuild confidence in the brand...

So I think it's more than fair to say that SS and the current regime can and should only be judged on a starting point when they took responsibility (June 2019). So Blackpool have been operating for 5 years and Fleetwood 15... So in their 15 year history, how many players have Fleetwood developed through their academy system who are of a better standard / potential than Rob Apter (genuine question)?

Second question... How many of those players were developed in the first five years?

That wasn’t your initial question Bifster…… and most of the kids from out of town who came to the academy back then had no idea of our troubles with the Oystons

My initial question was about Fleetwood's Academy.... I didn't ask how long Blackpool's had been in place.

Only Apter and Holmes, but not in critcleys plans,If Rob is worse than what’s at the club, which I don’t think he is,then that tells you everything. He will be sold, along with cj in the summer.

The question I asked related to Fleetwood.

Blackpool are in the very early stages of developing our Academy after the Oystons left the club in a right state.

Apter looks like he’s come on really well since being at Blackpool and gained good First Team experience through well appointed Loans.

Hopefully he can make the step up next season 👍

We have been picking players up though … Dan Grimshaw? Was Josh Bowler not released by Everton (and made us a few million).

What about Casey, Kouassi ? Are these not young prospects?

Apter (been with us since he was 16 in 2019)… Flying at Tranmere..

Also were a couple of our January signings not also out of higher level academies?
Fair response
