How many did you think we needed in?

So two in, both decent players which pleases me because I did feel last season it was all a bit scattergun - I said 6 in when the season ended - two full backs, defender, midfielder, winger and forward. Still think we need the other four.

Cover at RB, another creating CM and a winger, possibly another CF if the right player becomes available.

Players who add something to the team, and can play the 46 games in a season, plus cup games - obviously that's a big ask....

We definitely need both full backs and a goal poacher without a doubt. The left winger and attacking CM would be nice but mean losing a few (Dale, CJ, Lubala, Anderson, Lavery).

I go with at least 4 out and 3 in: LB, RB, and a striker. One player must be a dead ball specialist.
I like how MA isn't doing a smash and grab with incomings, as we need quality not just numbers. However, we need to hit the ground running and pick points up straight from the off, so the sooner the additions are recruited, the better.

We seem to be struggling again to score goals and we need to ensure that we are hard to score against so I would like to see us strengthen at both RB and LB. The midfield will play with more confidence knowing there is a solid wall behind them and hence get forward more than they do, this should lead to more chances. Whatever happens they still need us all to get behind them and create a great positive atmosphere, COYP.

Garbutt, Husband?
Not good enough

Husband can't attack and Garbutt can't defend

If you could create a left back by moulding them together then they might be ok but unfortunately it doesn't work that way

We also don't have a specialist right back for the first league game

I would say 3/4 players,
R/back Reegan Poole
Experienced midfielder Jay Fulton
Different type of striker Mallik Wilkes
Rogers if we can get him.
None of these cheap but if we are to keep up with other clubs its needed. IMO

two full backs and a striker, honestly think Apter will be given game time this year ahead of CJ, at least he can cross a ball and is not afraid of attacking defenders.

A few posts have said attacking midfielder. If we have Keshi, Carey and now Fiorini I'm not sure they will sign another.

I think everyone is naming the same positions so surely so will the Board/MA. Expect the holes to be filled in at some point. I guess not by the names on the top of our list but hopefully good quality team players - even on loan. We do have a huge owned-squad, unheard of years ago. I remember us having 8 players and no keeper 3 days before our opener in 1989.

So, once again, you're confusing "need" with what you "want".

The club "needs" a new RB because the club only has one, you "want" a new LB because you don't think the existing ones are good enough, and, as ever, you seem to think that the club can drop off its existing players at the charity shop, wave a magic wand and have the replacements appear out of thin air, and pay for all of this by shaking the magic money tree.

A left back, a right back, and a winger with better end product would be the three key signings that I'd be prioritising if it were up to me.

I’d like to see us improve on what we have at LB, CM and left wing, perhaps a striker but it’s the hardest place to get proven players and we already have four.

We need a RB.

It all depends on what Sadler's objectives are this season. Arguably, we probably have enough right now to stay in the division, albeit bottom quarter. We don't have the good fortune this year that we had last whereby circa. 5 teams were worse than us and it came to light very quickly.

If we genuinely want to make a play-off challenge then we probably need 2 or 3 quality players

Yet again you miss the point

Left-back is by far and away the most urgent position to fill.

Garbutt isn't Championship standard (surprisingly, really) and Husband at his best is lower half Championship level. Last season our best left-back was when we had a right-footed CB/RB playing there which shows how lacking we are.

Apter is doing a sterling job of running around in that area of the pitch but that's all he's doing and it's not going to be enough starting from next Saturday. Connolly can play right-back but we have no fit left-back at the club.

Other than that, a right-back and possibly a wide-man depending on the Bowler situation and then take it from there.

Garbutt was injured for most of last season, so I'm at a loss to how you come to that conclusion.

Both are out of contract next summer, albeit with an option for another year, so I'd suggest the club sticks with what it's got for this season and makes a decision on that position at the end of it.

RB is the position that needs the most urgent attention.

We need a back up right back and a first choice left back

Husband isn't Roberto Carlos but I'm happy enough with him. Wouldn't say no to an upgrade, like.

As all summer, my concern is the balancing act we have on our hands with Bowler. Are we keeping him and getting peanuts/nowt for him? Or are we selling him and scratching around for a replacement for our main attacking threat last-minute? A similar situation is starting to emerge with Gabriel, though at least serviceable RBs are easier to come by than quality left-sided attackers. Also there isn't the contract issue with Gabriel, but first teamers who leave need replacing.

I presumed Wilks would have been a non-starter, but a quick peek at Hull news, seems he is indeed out of favour. Doesnt seem like he'd be a fortune though, Sheff Weds bid £200k apparently and Hull took his option with the intention to move him on it seems. I always thought he looked a nightmare to play against, and at 23, if it's just a loss of Mojo, maybe he's a good shout.
