How Not to Run a Football Club - Official Discussion Thread

It's strange but until I read this thread I never thought BST had claimed to be the driving force of NAPM. What I did always believe (and credit to @20togo, for a post further upthe thread, seeing as how important it is for giving credit correctly) was all references to BST meant the "collective" of which 1,000+ were supporting NAPM. I do apologise for not forensically analysing every word in the book because I'm just reading it and enjoying it in obviously a very superficial way. 😉

Thank you very much, lovely to read that. Sorry about the Americanisations, I've been a huge NBA fan for a while now, so they've slipped into my lexicon through osmosis - I tried really hard to not use any but I'm so used to it now it's impossible to fully eradicate.
Like many apparently’American’ words, ‘gotten’ is actually Middle English, we used it here and it was taken to America as it was colonised. We then dropped it over time and the Americans didn’t. ‘Fall’ is another, we started using Autumn much later.

I’m going to leave this thread as quite frankly you are trying to twist one word in perhaps 100 thousand ( maybe more ) to argue black is blue
As I’ve repeatedly said neither I and ( so far as I am aware ) no one else ever associated with BST has ever claimed credit for the idea of NAPM
If you want to keep trying to invent an issue that doesn’t exist you can do it on your own

Me too TAM.

It's all gone a little Monty Python.

Again.

No, but ironically that would have been a steal for Owen. He could have walked away from the football club in a clean break, but instead he was forced to sell it by court order in order to help raise about £40,000,000 he lost.
My thoughts exactly... With hindsight given that option now he'd have snapped BST hand off ..

Exactly

The last thing BST could ‘ afford ‘ was either the organisation or its committee being targeted for further litigation

In 2014/15 there was a conscious decision taken by the membership to protect it

It was an unanimous vote as I recall

That’s the only reason I and others didn’t go on the pitch at JD1

Pauline got threatened with legal action after her twin sister did !

Steve Smith was certainly threatened with legal action if not sued

Anyone they knew in BST / TKs and even on AVFTT was in the firing line

Many of the TKs maintained anonymity for that very reason

The BST chair and the committee couldn’t

There was even a spreadsheet of names on here cross-referenced against what they said and who they were ( most weren’t known by them )

It was a dangerous time to be a prominent protester
Yes ! there was a spread sheet of names and what was said by each of them ... I can verify that without a doubt ..

Yeah, even after the court case before the judgement he was asking Belokon to put more money in according to a source. Quite remarkable what his thinking was, everyone could see the end but him
In his deluded mind if we weren’t happy with the way the club was run go and support a different club.

For those still waiting , last night my delivery was still 29/3 , this morning I have a despatch notice and it is being delivered today ;)
Well Book now received but its the one I ordered on 31/10 LAST YEAR ! Amazon had no trace of this last week(I was sure I had ordered it !!!!) and so I re-ordered and that one is still coming on 29/3 !!!! 🙃

Finished reading the book 10 mins ago. Fastest I have every read a book which tell you how captivating I found it . I have no idea how accurate it is nor if anyone involved has been misrepresented but tbh I don't really care.
It reads well and I believe it to be an honest interpretation of the darkest period of our clubs history.
I could chuck in a couple or minor gripes but these are so minor they pale into insignificance compared to the overall feel & outcome of the book.
Well done Foggy for taking on this important task - you should be very proud of your work & I won't be asking for a refund.

Thanks very much mate. So glad you enjoyed it!

What does Jez think about his part in the book Tim?
Didn’t really discuss specifics other than the settlement meeting Raggy and Afro attended ( which you really couldn’t make up ) and Paul Crashly’s section which we both thought was excellent
In the main we spoke about how so many people from different backgrounds came together over this and the legacy it’s created

Spoke to him earlier as well. Told him I honestly believe that his court victory in Liverpool gave us all the boost we needed to make us believe that we could beat the scum. The way they tried to spin their defeat within minutes to the main media outlets was nothing short of dictator like
That result along with Afroman’s display in the Oyston cross examination were both great days.

I’m sure BST would have tried to take credit for both if possible though😂

I don’t suppose we will know if our club owner/Board…players…Management team etc will have bought/received copies…I hope they have.

This was me that you summed up brilliantly:

'weekly pilgrimages to Bloomfield Road were part of the family bond family members had, not just on the fylde coast, but all around the county'.

Broke my heart not being able to take my youngest son to Bloomfield until they'd gone. Good times are back now though. Page 194 by the way.... brilliant read and still another 50 pages or so to go

What a great day in court that was, when the bastards failed to turn up you knew that was it, the first victory in the campaign!
That was the turning point. They were just bullies with wealth on their side .
Remember the day before when they raised the stakes to 150K in an attempt to frighten off Jez.
Had the cheek to report that they had changed heart and let him off following failure to turn up in Court.

Only part way through the book at present.

Copy in the post for a member of the board, who was gonna buy one Im sure but I was happy to send one to him so I offered. Ive not spoken to Simon Sadler but I would be amazed if he doesnt read it.

Yeh when the stakes were raised Jez and family held firm, took some bottle that, ‘changed heart’ you’ve forgot they don’t have them, just lead! 😉

I really enjoyed Jez banging his credit card behind the bar in the boozer near the Court after the case to buy everyone a bevvy and getting a couple of Stellas in 👍😁

it was later that day back in the Boars that Raggy wrote the Timmy Ten Scarves chant 👍😂

Ha ha, Raggy made another one up that night back in The Boars about Jeremy Smith going to Scouse land as well…… I just can’t remember all the words 😀😀

Wow that’s a great response that sums it all up 👏👏👏. Got my book today and if it doesn’t mention the fact l threw a brick at the shop window in the 77/78 season the night when we were relegated against all the odds, I'll be livid! Oh wait a minute lets wind on a few years………….
What's that screeching noise? Is it Corsa Les serving the papers for a broken window?
