Genuinely forgot I'd ordered this book. Randomly popped into my head today and looks like I bought it back in June. Now saying itll be delivered in March 2022.

Does anyone know why theres been such a delay?

Hi all, let me try to clarify everything for you. But firstly, thank you for ordering!

The book is finished, all written, legally approved and typeset. The printers have given me the copy so I can give it one last proofread, and then it will be ready to sent to the printers for March 14th release date. I'm ready for it to come out tomorrow, but the publisher has their own release schedule to think about, they have PR campaigns to manage, and it of course takes a few weeks to be printed.

We had an original release date of late Sept 2021, which looking back was ridiculously naive and silly to aim for. When the publisher took on the book they mentioned they had a gap there and asked if I could have it ready by then. It's my first book, so I said yes of course. What we didn't factor in was the long time it would take to get legal approval, as the lawyer wanted to do many reads, we had plenty of back and forths, and I had to go back to sources to get double and triple confirmation for certain things. I also added new material which pushed back finishing, as when I was in this process I learned some new stuff that I wanted to put in.

I tried to keep people informed throughout that the Amazon release dates were inaccurate, as they kept pushing it back by a couple of weeks - I dunno if that was just an automated thing or dodgy info they were getting. I'm sorry for that frustration but I couldn't do anything about it unfortunately. But it's all finished now and in my opinion will be a must-read for all BFC fans. I asked Tim Fielding to read a draft and he read it all in two nights and couldn't put it down. My family also said nice things but they are a little less objective.

So yes it's coming out and soon! And I absolutely can't wait.

Do there need to be a certain amount of pre orders before printing starts ?
No, the publisher orders a set amount from the printers and if the pre-orders are higher than that they scramble to increase it or add more print runs, if they never sell out they just eat the cost. Release isn't dependent on pre-orders.

Will there be a Kindle version Foggy? Nothing listed on Amazon, but they sometimes come on later?

Cheers fella, properly looking forward to it 👍

I've ordered 3; 1 for me and 1 each for my two boys.

They grew up in the boycott years and I want then to have something which documents the whole thing; there must so much to learn from the whole thing.

Anyway, should have been Christmas presents, but will become Easter Eggs instead!

Thanks Foggy - all makes sense now and really appreciate your reply.

Looking forward to reading it

Thanks for the reply, it didnt need a seperate one. Who is in charge of the PR campaign, that could be another book.

Good luck mate. Very proud of you. I'm an old hand at this book thing now, but I still get a thrill on release date. Enjoy every second, drink champagne, and DON'T get upset over bad reviews. They are mostly from people who wouldn't be able to do what you have just done.

Thanks for the kind words Roy. Think I will be ok with bad reviews, but if anyone spots a typo please wait a few weeks to tell me. I've been told at least one is inevitable but I think it will haunt me as soon as I see it.

Let’s not forget too, the legal checking, given the form of some of the whoppers that will be in the book, must have been an absolute ** nightmare…

All the best Foggy, looking forward to this.
By the way was that you who made a film about The Orielles? I know the sisters slightly, and saw them supporting the Cribs a few months ago at Piece Hall.
What a great night that was!

Ha, it was a long process. Had a great lawyer who has worked on many books and films and said it was one of the hardest, but most rewarding, projects he's ever had to do, because he went in with the expectation that Owen and Karl will be looking to sue and so we worked a lot on making sure all the language was water tight. He was taken aback several times by stories where he just said 'this is incredibly risky' and then I'd say 'yeah I know but I have four people who were there on record' etc. The truth, as always, is the best defense.

Now I'm even more looking forward to reading it!!!
