How we view our players

At the moment there is a lot of us saying how much Casey has improved and that Dale has found a position he's playing better in. I fully agree with those comments but in truth this doesn't make them players that will get us promoted. I've read just about every comment on this board but for all our discussions the only points made that matter in my opinion are the ones critical of player recruitment. Our players in the main are average Div 1 players who are trying their best. We will win some and lose some but we won't be anywhere near the top two. I pray that I'm wrong but I don't think I am. Play-offs ? I'd say a remote chance if we stay injury free and for a change recruit some decent talent in January. As for NC I don't think it's working this time but we all know it's very unlikely SS will change things.

I think we've got just about enough quality to be top six, providing we play them in their correct roles.

Judging by some of the absolute (probably alcohol fuelled) drivel posted on here I think some or our members view our players through beer goggles

Agree with that - all Derby had over us on Tuesday was the goals* and maybe a bit more experience.

*I know that sounds obvious but defensively I still think we could have cut those goals off a lot earlier.

They broke at speed with a fast winger, leaving us short at the back and their scorers shots were brilliant. We fucked about for ages, giving them chance to get everyone behind the ball.

Or, for those members of our following more concerned with other, extra-curricular activities, namely gardening or horticultural matters, rather than 'through beer goggles', players will instead be viewed through rose-tinted spectacles, perhaps?

I’m afraid “** about for ages” is Critchley’s modus operandi, so you had better get used to it. When the opposition break at speed we are always in danger. Our best front two are Rhodes and Koussai. Unfortunately neither is blessed with great pace, yet no doubt under instruction keep dropping deep into our half. If we manage to get a break and Hamilton tears down the wing there’s no one to cross to. I could go on but I won’t, suffice to say Critchley’s football is boring slow and ponderous and hard to watch.

I agree with most of what you say but I don't think NC worked particularly well last time, other than when he had an experienced manager at his side as a "number 2"! I accepted his over cautious approach in the Championship, we were up against bigger and better teams than we were in L1 and are now that we're back in L1 but at this level his defensive approach to games is killing the 12th man! He's always going on about the fans helping the players so perhaps he should help the fans by giving them something they can cheer about?

We were just shit like we have been for most of the games. It's an average team with limited ability and finishing in the top half will be achievement as it stands.

I’ll ignore the one above.

We’re a capable squad who should be top half. With the right manager the owner should see the team deliver on the top 6 budget.

I’ll guess we’ll have a good final third of the season when it matters most. Whether the dull as ditchwater football we’ve seen so far will cost too much we’ll have to wait and see.

Aren't we fickle?
Before yesterday, there was a consensus that Carey and Thommo shouldn't be near the starting XI.
Come 17-00hrs. there's a general outcry that they were substituted.

Now Albie appears to be the target.

We were nailed on for at least playoffs after Barnsley, apparently, then looking miles off contention following the Derby defeat.

What're Bolton fans talking about today I wonder?

Imagine how Derby supporters feel after winning at our place on Tuesday, only to become the first side against whom Cheltenham score this season.

Rovers thrashed at home in midweek, then a convincing away performance yesterday.

Utd. being ripped apart by fans until two injury-time goals lead to a lap of honour ffs!

Not to mention the continuation of what we all hope will be a permanent slide by the former table-toppers down the road.

We are where we deserve to be and will, more than likely, finish, in my opinion.

Let's enjoy the highs and suffer the lows.

Fuck that. They're all shite.

Derby supporters should be quite happy 4 points away from home in the last two matches. They probably thought they'd draw at Blackpool and win at Cheltenham 👍🏻
Apparently if you draw away from home even if you are winning quite convincingly it's a great point😉
