I thought we were slipping…..

…..before the Subs were introduced. Kenny and Matty brought us back to parity. Exeter were much better than Burton, and Pool were coming under the cosh. I have not seen enough of Morgan yet to make a judgement, but I am positive that both he and Carey cannot play together in the same midfield. Going past the hour yesterday, shades of last season were evident, as Exeter had started to take a grip. You need tough guys in this league.

It’s just one game.

The only ‘take away’ worth taking is that in a game where we weren’t at our best, we remained organised enough to gain a point.

That’s a team that can win promotion. Gaining points when players aren’t on fire. Controlling games when we play well.

The first month of performances are normally erratic as players are trying to get into form and rhythm. If we can exit August near the top, then it’s game on!

I felt like it was two of the better teams in the division who cancelled each other out for most of the game.
Pool definitely lacked creativity, neither Morgan or Carey looked capable of providing a killer pass. Hopefully Weir will address this.
Regardless of Joseph’s injury situation we need another striking option ASAP. Going long to Shane is just pointless

Morgan was MOTM in the FLP. That's including both sides.

I also thought Morgan was good, always looks to be positive when on the ball.
He did always show for the ball, but I never felt he would open them up.
Someone put CJ in behind their full back in the 2nd half, not sure if that was Morgan tbf

I think that if Kenny plays there is more license for Norburn to make the telling forward passes. We've already seen he can do that, probably as wel as anyone else we could hope to sign.

It did become open when the subs came on, and we could indeed have lost it, but it took play up the pitch from mostly inside our half.

It was two very well organised teams cancelling each other out. They didn’t have many, if any, clear cut chances, and we had two with Lavery and Virtue’s at the end. Solid point for me - Exeter looked fairly decent.

Can’t say I agree that any of it reminded me of last season. We looked really solid and was never in danger of conceding really.

I'm sorry but you sound like someone who'd have us all in the lifeboats before leaving Southampton, never mind the Mid-Atlantic. We've played 3, for 4 against nil. At St. James Park, regardless of any concerns I might have, our defence was excellent.

Agree but Marv's howler could have been costly. We're riding our luck on that one at the moment. Would be a real shame if an overall effective defensive display is ruined by one single lapse.

Marv gave the ball away near the half way line I wouldn't call that a defensive error as we where on the attack, if it would have been one of our midfield it wouldn't be called a midfield error just the player at fault same here for ME.

That's his Achilles heel but defensively he's colossus.
